Brighton-based developer Zoe Mode will open a new studio in London on September 1 of this year, the developer announced today.

Previously branded Kuju Brighton to reflect parent company Kuju Entertainment, Zoe Mode's developed titles include Crush (PSP), the SingStar karaoke series on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, and the upcoming multiple-instrument rhythm game Rock Revolution (PS3, 360).

The developer noted that the new studio opening was prompted by the swift growth of its Brighton location, which is approaching a workforce of 150 employees.

"This will enable us to take on more projects and staff without losing the intimate company culture that is so central to our approach," said studio head Ed Daly.

Within an announcement detailing the tent at the upcoming Coachella Festival, Sony Computer Entertainment America confirmed that the first PlayStation 3 entry in SCE Studios London's karaoke series SingStar will hit North America on May 20.

Demonstrated at countless Sony events since its formal unveiling in 2006, the PlayStation 3 edition of SingStar arrived in Europe last fall.

Similar to Harmonix's multi-instrument effort Rock Band (PS3, X360), the title features an online music store that is sporadically updated with new music.

A set tracklist has yet to be provided for the North American rendition of the game. Previous renditions have included tracks from a wide range of artists, including Gorillaz, R.E.M., OutKast, Britney Spears, Nicole Kidman, and more.
