The digital version of the Persona PSP remake has been delayed to an October 1 release, according to Atlus.

Despite the digital delay, the UMD launch will still go ahead on September 22. The boxed version includes the game's full soundtrack at no extra cost, adding even more of an incentive to just pick up the disc.

The enhanced PSP remake of demonic RPG Shin Megami Tensei: Persona will be released as a digital download through the PlayStation Network on September 22, the same day the physical version hits retail, publisher Atlus announced today. "All of you first adopters of the upcoming PSPgo System can christen your new handheld with a quality RPG experience," the company said of the digital release. The PSPgo, which can only play downloaded games, hits North America on October 1 at $250.

Of course, those with regular old PSPs will also be able to obtain and play the game through digital download, memory stick space permitting, though they'll be missing out of the bonus two-disc soundtrack that's bundled with the physical UMD edition.

The PSP re-release of Atlus' demonic PlayStation RPG Persona will arrive in North American stores on September 22, the company announced today. The first title in Atlus' Persona series of RPG games could be heading to the PSP, according to a report by Play.Online.

The most recent issue of Hong Kong magazine GameWave apparently claims that Revelations: Persona is being ported to the PSP in Japan. Atlus has not yet confirmed or denied the rumor.

Revelations: Persona was released on the PlayStation in 1996. The game centers around a group of high schoolers that battle demons using magical Personae.

The Persona series has since gone on to spawn numerous sequels, including last month's Persona 4.
