Were you eying that demo of Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper, but weren't sure whether it was worth the bandwidth? The Demoman is here to help, getting to the bottom of the sleuthy adventure sequel based on the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle classics:
The demo throws a number of puzzles in your path, and in the spirit of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I chose to treat each puzzle as a case. The first: The Case of the Missing Map. It seems Holmes, brilliant as he is, doesn't know his way around his home city of London without a map, and doesn't remember where he left it. Luckily, the case is busted wide open when I, controlling Watson, immediately find the map on a desk a few feet away. That leads to a second case: The Case of Locating Whitechapel on a Map. Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper Continues Legendary Feud on Xbox 360

Having already transcended the boundaries of fact and fiction, Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper are no longer bound by platform either, as the once PC exclusive adventure Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper is now being ported to Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 rendition is being handled by Spiders Games. As the name implies, the forthcoming release pits one of the world's most famed detectives against one of history's most notorious serial killers--a true showdown for the ages.

The PC version, developed by Frogwares Studio, hits Europe in May, a revelation celebrated with the several new screenshots above, and should arrive in North America come summer. As for the Xbox 360 release, there's no word yet on a timeframe.

The real question is, what (or who) is next? Holmes has already faced off against a mummy and Cthulu in Frogwares' games. Of course... there's always Godzilla.

Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper Screenshots

Apparently unaffected by his recent encounter with H.P. Lovecraft's mythical beast Cthulhu, Sherlock Holmes is gearing up for his fifth Frogwares Studio-developed PC adventure: Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper. Check out the screenshots below.

That's not a joke, by the way. Holmes really went face-to-face with Cthulu in Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. And now he's facing off against the Jack the Ripper. Hardcore.

Sporting the ability to investigate areas in either first or third-person, the PC adventure game will hit Europe in March 2009. No North American release dates are available.
