Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter for PC - Gone Gold!

Nov 03, 2009 7:32pm CST tags: Serious Sam HD
The PC version of Croteam's seriously chaotic FPS Serious Sam HD is now gold, according to an earlier tweet from publisher Devolver Digital.

Powered by the new Serious Engine 3, the high-definition remake tells the story of Sam "Serious" Stone's journey back to ancient Egypt to battle Notorious Mental and the Sirian army, and of the excessive and bloody carnage that ensues.

The Xbox Live Arcade version hasn't achieved gold status yet, but is expected to arrive about the same time as the PC release.

Serious Sam HD: How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Sep 25, 2009 4:04pm CST tags: Serious Sam HD, Delay
With summer having drawn to a close and certain doom approaching, it's time for the enemies of Serious Sam HD to take one last look back at their seasonal shenanigans.

Some chose to spend their time at the beach. Others fulfilled their lifelong dreams of visiting Hollywood, that restaurant from Seinfeld, and the sidewalk. A few opted to run in a marathon, Carlton decided to LARP, and Susie, well, she finally got to go to prom.

Originally slated to hit Xbox 360 this summer Croteam's downloadable hi-def revamp of Serious Sam: The First Encounter will is now due on PC and the console this fall.

Serious Sam HD 'Testimonials' Offer Video Confusion

Serious Sam vs. SSHD
Continuing in the whimsical glory of the Serious Sam HD "supermercial", developer Croteam and producer Devolver Digital have issued some eccentric video "testimonials" and new screenshots via the game's official site.

Unfortunately, we still don't have a solid release date for the high-def remake of Croteam's shooter. The downloadable Xbox 360 release, which supports four-player online co-op, will be $15 and is due in the vague "summer." The as-yet-unpriced PC edition will then deliver 16-person online co-op in the "fall."

Serious Sam HD: The Infromercial Krundle

Aug 27, 2009 3:00pm CST tags: Serious Sam HD, Trailer
Our latest glimpse of Serious Sam HD is jam packed with nonsensical buzzwords and phrases like "6005 polygons per krundle," "more definition-ier," "one million enemies on screen at once," a disclaimer that it "does NOT feature one million enemies on screen at once)," and word that "Serious Sam HD is way better than a loveless marriage."

There are also some new screenshots, if you're interested. We don't know exactly when Croteam's high-def revamp of its frantic 2001 shooter will hit--thus far, all that's been said is "summer" for the downloadable Xbox 360 release and fall for the PC edition.

Serious Sam HD Screenshots Get Explosive

Aug 05, 2009 11:59am CST tags: Serious Sam HD, Screenshots
A few new screenshots from Croteam's high-def revamp of Serious Sam: The First Encounter have arrived, illustrating the various weapons and foes of the co-op shooter. For example, headless foes that rush you with what look to be old-school bombs.

Publisher cdv was quite clear that these screenshots came from the PC edition, which is due out this fall at an as-yet-unkown price point. Meanwhile, a downloadable Xbox 360 edition is due to hit Xbox Live Arcade later this summer for 1200 MS Points ($15).

Croteam Killing 'Cartoony Look' for Serious Sam 3

Jul 22, 2009 1:06pm CST tags: Serious Sam HD
Serious Sam developer Croteam says that the next sequel in the fast-paced shooter series will leave behind the stylized visuals of Serious Sam 2.

"I believe Serious Sam fans would want to hear the following two things," said Croteam chief Roman Ribaric. "First, Serious Sam 3 will play like the original Serious Sam. And second, we'll leave the cartoony look behind."

Added Ribaric: "As for standing up to other games: simply, if it's good to play, it's good to play. Serious Sam games belong to their own unique fast-paced FPS genre and should best be compared to previous Serious Sam games."

No details on platforms or a release schedule for Serious Sam 3 are currently known. Croteam is currently focused on releasing Serious Sam HD, a remake of the original title for Xbox Live and PC.

Serious Sam HD Screenshots Perhaps Too Serious

A trio of new Serious Sam HD screenshots explore the lush monster-packed ancient Egypt levels in Croteam's PC and Xbox 360 revamp of its frantic 2001 shooter.

Chicken-legged robo-brains: serious business.

Wanting more one-liners, producer Devolver Digital has naturally sought the Internet's assistance. One winning wisecrack will be chosen from all quips sent to its Twitter account to feature in Serious Sam HD spoken by the voice of Sam, John J. Dick.

Serious Sam HD arrives on Xbox Live Arcade and PC in late Summer. The Xbox release is confirmed to cost 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), while the PC price is yet unknown.

Dubbed "Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD" and packing online co-op for up to four players, the game is being developed by Croteam with Devolver Digital--a new Texas-based "production and publishing company"--aiding in its production.

"The fans have lobbied us hard to do this, so we are stoked about bringing Sam back as big, bold and bad as he ever was," noted Croteam CEO Roman Ribaric.

"You've waited forever but Serious Sam is back from the nether with its award-winning game play that will remind you why you play FPSs in the first place," Majesco added in the press release, before slyly telling Eurogamer that it'll sell for 1200 MS Points ($15).
