More Games to Use Tony Hawk: Ride's Skateboard

Tony Hawk: Ride developer Robomodo is planning more games to make use of its motion-sensitive skateboard, president Joshua Tsui has told VideoGamer.

No mere skateboard controller but a plastic portal to countless upright activities.

"We look at it less as a peripheral, as more of a platform," said Tsui. "We want to make sure that people have a good return on their investment so there are many games that are planned." GameSpot has listed Tony Hawk: Ride at $120, skateboard included.

"The obvious ones are snowboarding and surfing and such, but there are a lot of games that can be used with this board, and we're really excited to start working on those."

Tony Hawk: Ride is set for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii this fall.

After a one-year hiatus to re-invent the series "from the ground up," Activision has announced that its Tony Hawk skateboarding games will return with Tony Hawk: Ride--controlled by a brand new skateboard peripheral (pictured left).

Fight Night Team Forms Robomodo, Creating 'High-profile Extreme Sports Title'

Sep 30, 2008 11:04am CST tags: Robomodo
Following last year's closure of Fight Night and Def Jam developer EA Chicago, 27 veterans of the once-dissolved team have reformed as independent studio Robomodo.

A "good chunk" of those 27 team members hail from the portion of EA Chicago that developed Fight Night Round 3, Robomodo president and unannounced game director Josh Tsui revealed to Gamasutra.

Members of the Fight Night Round 3 team that stayed with EA were relocated to EA Canada, where they developed the cartoony boxing game FaceBreaker (PS3, 360, Wii) and are presumed to be creating Fight Night Round 4.

The developer is currently at work on an unknown "high-profile extreme sports title" for Activision Blizzard, according to its official site, with Gamasutra further reporting that Activision has not "breathed word of [the new game] to the press or public yet."
