Rise of Nations Expansion News

GameSpot is reporting that Big Huge Games is working on an expansion pack for Rise of Nations, called Throne and Patriots. This expansion pack will add six new playable nations to the game, more than twenty new units, and of course new campaigns. Throne and Patriots is expected in Spring 2004. In related news Microsoft has lowered the suggested retail price of the original game from $50 to $40.

Rise of Nations 1.03 Patch

A new Rise of Nations patch has been released, updating the Big Huge Games strategy game to v1.03. The patch primarily focuses on multiplayer issues. Three additional multiplayer maps have been released as well.

Rise of Nations Patch Released

Microsoft's Rise of Nations website is now offering a 1.01 manual patch (if auto patching didn't work) for the recently released Big Huge Games strategy game. The patch fixes problems related to the GameSpy multiplayer interface, and it is mirrored on FileShack. Also on the same page are some documents for the scenario editor. Thanks Blues News.

In the 190mb demo, you can chose between 4 of the full game's 18 nations and play through a tutorial and one of four different map types. Game designer Brian Reynolds has been interviewed by GameSpot, where they ask him about his company's upcoming strategy game Rise of Nations. The GS guys ask Brian what the most challenging aspect of the game's development has been, the time it takes to finish multiplayer games, what the conquer the world single player mode is all about and what he thinks the game's most distinctive feature is, among other things.
