Activision has released the latest game source code for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, based on code used in the recent 1.33 patch. You can grab the Wolf_133_src.exe file from FileShack, courtesy of Speakeasy. Update: this only includes multiplayer code.

Activision sent over a press release announcing that the Game of the Year edition of Return to Castle Wolfenstein is now shipping. The GOTY edition includes the original RTCW, Wolfenstein 3D, a "making of Return to Castle Wolfenstein" AVI and new multiplayer maps (also released online, see story). It has a suggested retail price of $44.99.

Activision has released a new patch for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, updating the game to 1.33. Also released is the Game of the Year Map Pack, which has additional multiplayer maps for the game (more info here). For a list of fixes/additions in the patch, check the readme. We have FileShack mirrors for the map pack, the full patch, and the v1.32 -> v1.33 patch.

Activision sent along the first four screenshots from the upcoming game of the year edition of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. The shots are from new multiplayer maps created by Splash Damage and Nerve Software. A map pack will be released for owners of the original retail version, so you won't have to buy the GotY version for these new maps. Here's some info on the screenshots

chateau.jpg: a multiplayer reworking of the SP map "Chateau". Done by Nerve Software.
keep.jpg: a new multiplayer map also created by Nerve.
dam.jpg: a multiplayer reworking of the SP map "The Damned". This one is done by Splash Damage.

Returning to Castle Wolfenstein

There are two Q&As on RTCW World, where they asked id's Kevin Cloud about plans for adding new multiplayer classes and what the future holds for the game. Kevin mentions that there should be another Wolfenstein game, and hopefully id will work with Gray Matter again. He says he'll be talking to them about the game later this year. RTCW Server Test

Christian Antkow from over at id Software updated his .plan with news of a Dedicated Only Server for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. This 27mb program will allow you to run servers for the game without needing any game data. Christian is also working with Tony Ray of Punkbuster to get some server admin tools working through web browsers. Tests are going on at 192.246.40.45:27960 and 192.246.40.45:27961.

Wolf Patch News

It looks like several people have not upgraded their Return to Castle Wolfenstein yet (story). However in version 1.31, the new map Ice was updated as well so people can't play this map anymore. You can download the upgraded map seperately from Fileplanet or Battlefield Wolfenstein.

RTCW v1.31 Released

The Wolfenstein v1.31 patch has been released by Activision, here is the documentation on the file. It fixes a single bug that showed up in v1.30 according to the documents.

Teleportation and Reviving Players Bugs Fixed Bugs introduced in 1.30 related to reviving players and teleportation, or warping, on certain maps have been fixed. These issues were a byproduct of a fix for reviving players on and around script movers (the giant doors in mp_assault for example).

Brandon James from over at Nerve Software updated his .plan file with news of some problems in the recently released Return to Castle Wolfenstein 1.3 patch. These "problems related to reviving and the teleportation" are server side issues, and a fix is currently being tested. If you'd like to help test the fix, you can check out the id Software servers listed in the update.
