Renegade Kid Working on Big 'Horror Icon' Game, Rumors Point to Dracula Title on Wii

Aug 29, 2008 3:23pm CST tags: Renegade Kid, Gamecock, Rumor
Renegade Kid, developer of DS horror title Dementium: The Ward, announced today that it is working on a secret project based on "one of the biggest horror icons of all time."

Few details were released by the studio or publisher Gamecock, but the announcement and accompanying teaser image are in line with rumors on Gamasutra and GameSetWatch suggesting that the studio is working on a Vlad the Impaler game for the Wii.

According to GameSetWatch, Renegade Kid was already at work on a game entitled "Son of the Dragon," which Gamasutra noted translates to "Dracula" in Romanian. That, combined with the teaser image, can certainly be a reference to Vlad the Impaler, often cited as the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula."

Only a teaser image is available today, but Renegade Kid has promised that more details will come this year.

Dementium Developer Reveals Moon

Dementium: The Ward (NDS) developer Renegade Kid is currently at work on Moon, a new sci-fi action adventure title for the Nintendo DS, publisher Mastiff announced today.

Previously known under the code name "Project M", Moon situates players on the empty, cold surface of the moon in the year 2058, where scientists discover a sealed alien hatch during the construction of a lunar base.

"Moon is dark, twisted, heart pounding, frequently violent and always disturbing," said Mastiff CEO Bill Swartz. "Pretty much what you'd expect when you take madmen like Renegade Kid, jack their technology up to the next level, and turn them loose."

A teaser trailer was also released, but due to technical issues, Shacknews is unable to post it at this time. In its place, please accept a number of captures from said trailer.

Moon utilizes the developer's Renegade Engine for its 3D graphics, previously seen in Dementium: The Ward. A release date was not announced.

Renegade Kid worked with Austin-based game publisher Gamecock to bring its first title to market. Dementium is the second title published by Gamecock after the debut of Auran's PVP-centric online title Fury (PC).
