GS: Have there been any major changes to the game's overall design from last year? Is the underlying premise of the game--team combat, overrunning enemy bases, and so on--still the same?
DG: The underlying premise is still the same--total global war across 10 continents with thousands of players playing all the roles needed to achieve victory for their empire. But many details have changed. Since those details weren't discussed earlier, I'm not certain you'd notice the changes. A lot of work was done creating systems that would keep the players involved for an extended war, as well as economic systems and some reorganization of the global tactics areas.
Update: PlanetSide is little behind that of Star Wars Galaxies. McDaniel expects the game to be ready for release in Q1 2003.
D. Georgeson: The information in that thread is in no way official. The game will take as long to make as it takes. That's very grey, but it's the only answer I'm prepared to give at this time.
So uh... yeah I guess that means we wont bee seeing Planetside for a while. Bummer because it's purty and I was looking forward to finding out what is so $10/month special about it.
Thanks Blues News.Mystifier : Q7. [Appartments] "Will our apartments be customizable, shape and size wise (ala Anarchy Online)?"
StrykerPS : "The shape and size of the apartments wonÂt be customizable. As to furnishings, this hasnÂt been decided yet."Mystifier : Q26. [Player/Model] "In June's producer's letter, Steve George discussed how you guys were now able to blend two player animations at the same time. Can this technology be comparable to TF2's parametric animation?"
StrykerPS : "To be perfectly honest, I donÂt know how TF2Âs full animation system works, so I donÂt know. Our blending of animations basically means that you can see a soldier walking, running, crouching, etc while reloading a weapon, and so on. It looks really good. It also looks great when you see a soldier running along aiming up or down"
