GameSpot also takes a look at another expansion pack today, as they briefly went hands-on with Painkiller: Battle out of Hell. The addon for People Can Fly's first person shooter is scheduled for a November 10 ship date.

GameSpot is reporting that the Painkiller expansion pack Battle out of Hell has been delayed. Originally the single and multi-player add-on was scheduled for an October 13 release, it's now scheduled for November 10 instead. People Can Fly will add in a few additional features, and DreamCatcher will have extra time to promote the title.

Painkiller Multiplayer Demo

DreamCatcher Games has finally released a multiplayer demo for Painkiller, following the two single player demos and the retail release of the game several months ago. The 137mb demo comes with two maps, two game modes, four player skins and all the updates from the recent 1.3 retail patch.

A new patch for the full version of the game is available as well, updating v1.3 to v1.3.1. The incremental update fixes a bug involving the loading of a saved game.

Painkiller 1.3 Patch

DreamCatcher Games sends along a new patch for Painkiller, updating the game to v1.3. You can find a changelog right here. Additionally a Windows dedicated server is now available as well, allowing you to host multiplayer games without having Painkiller installed. Update: DreamCatcher released a corrupt version of the patch at first, but we now have the fixed patch.

Painkiller 1.2 Patch

Dreamcatcher Games sends along a new patch for Painkiller, updating the first person shooter from People Can Fly to v1.2. Here are some of the additions, changes and fixes in the 86mb update
- NEW: redesigned and much improved prediction code (better prediction + less processor power required)
- NEW: two new maps: DM_FALLEN1 (for 2x2 and FFA) and DM_FALLEN2 (for 1x1)
- NEW: fully customizable weapon setup (each weapon module can have separate key)
- NEW: added better mod support (e.g. for Chains.Mod), e.g. pak file format fixes, free key binding (commands/messages), etc.
- NEW: option to switch the weapon along with primary/secondary fire switch
- CHANGE: Chaingun does slightly less damage/knockback and no longer shocks the enemy
- CHANGE: Electro does more damage/knockback and shocks the enemy
- CHANGE: Shotgun now has 24 pellets (previously 12), increased total damage
- FIX: clients should no longer crash at the end of the game
- FIX: client no longer crashes in rare instances when dying of Electro shocks
- FIX: exiting the game no longer alters reverb setting on SB Audigy

Painkiller 1.15 Patch

DreamCatcher Games sent along a Painkiller patch, updating the People Can Fly first person shooter to version 1.15. The 50mb download offers a new multiplayer map as well as single & multiplayer bugfixes/improvements. As you might remember a multiplayer demo was going to be released around the same time as this patch. It's not quite done yet but a new release date will be announced soon.

Painkiller MP Demo May 3

GameSpot is reporting that the Painkiller multiplayer demo will finally be released May 3. The demo will come with the DM-Sacred and DM-Cursed levels, and will also feature updates and optimizations found in the upcoming 1.1 patch for the game. This thread on the Dreamcatcher forums has info on what this patch will contain.

Painkiller CD Fix

A Painkiller patch has been released, offering a fix for people who had problems launching the game due to the copy protection system even though they had a legit copy. If you can play the game just fine you don't need this patch. Thanks Gamers Hell.

A second Painkiller demo has been released (thanks NVidia), allowing you to play the singleplayer level "City on Water". The demo is a 156mb download. A multiplayer demo is expected after the retail version of the game ships April 12.
