Bikini Zombie Killers Hitting Xbox 360, Wii Same Day; New Screenshots Arrive

Following up on yesterday's revelation that Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad (360) is coming to North America, D3Publisher has announced that both Bikini Samurai Squad and the Wii sequel Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers will arrive on the same day.

Beyond a vague "early 2009" promise, D3 did not specify when North American gamers will be graced with developer Tamsoft's take on barely legal zombie slaughter. Instead, the company provided screenshots from the Xbox 360 version, perhaps in an effort to distract its target audience with bikinis, cowboy hats, schoolgirls and the undead.

The bikini-clad heroine Onechanbara and her zombie-slaying antics will at long last debut in North America on the Wii early next year, D3Publisher has announced.

Titled Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers, the Tamsoft-developed title has players swinging, slashing and thrusting the Wii Remote to battle hordes of zombie enemies. Sisters Aya and Saki each have their own unique set of moves, with the game offering two-person co-op play.

This marks the first North America release of the series, which debuted in Japan as a Simple 2000 budget title on the PlayStation 2 and was later brought to the Xbox 360 and Wii. A live-action film based on the franchise was released in Japan last month.

Following its PlayStation 2 release, Onechanbara gained a cult following similar to that of Sandlot's giant monster-killing Earth Defense Force series, which likewise debuted as a Simple 2000 PS2 title before making its way to North America in Xbox 360 form.
