Athlon AGP Fix

Riva 3D has discovered that all the NVidia reference drivers since 3.53 have been setting the AGP mode on Athlon systems to 1x, instead of leaving it to 2x. They have a website which offers a fix as well as a table with benchmarks that show you how much the performance loss is.

Your evening interview of the day, Tim Sweeney chats it up with the guys at 3DGPU on a number of topics, but mostly focusing on the 3D hardware industry. Guess what piece of hardware Tim is most looking forward to? A console:

The Playstation2. It will completely up the ante in the graphics race, and be something that PC gamers will drool over. The big question now is whether NVidia and 3dfx can match it -- not so much in the paper specs, but in performance with actual shipping games.

HardOCP on T&L

HardOCP has a new article up taking a look at the much debated T&L engine that made its debut on the NVidia GeForce cards. Although Quake3 doesnt really make much use of the T&L engine outside of character lighting, and Unreal doesnt use it at all hopefully future 3D FPS games will take advantage of it.

The guys at 3D Spotlight have figured out how to enable sidebanding for those of you using NVidia cards on a AMD Athlon system. I havent given this a shot but supposedly it should give you a nice little performance boost.

Doh, forgot to post this earlier. Just after those leaked 3.69 Detonator drivers, NVidia has made the official release of their 3.68 drivers for the GeForce256 as well as the TNT/2 line of cards.

NV11 & NV15 Info Pulled

Looks like NVidia put down the iron fist on the IXBT guys who posted that NV11 & NV15 information. The information was unauthorized and of course NVidia didnt appreciate that. NVidia also claims some of the information was incorrect as well. Thanks 3DGPU

Couple of GeForce driver updates. Firstly some NVidia 3.69 drivers have found their way onto the net and you can grab them here from ReactorCritical. Also, the Creative Labs guys have some new GeForce drivers as well.
