Multiwinia Trailer Shows off Blitzkrieg

Introversion has released another trailer for its multiplayer strategy game Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest, this time introducing the Blitzkrieg. It's a capture-and-hold scenario in which the side that captures all the points and the opponent's base is the winner.

Multiwinia will launch on PCs this month and on Xbox Live Arcade late this year under the name Darwinia+ and packaged with the original single-player game that inspired the multiplayer flat-fest.

Multiwinia Trailer Introduces Rocket Riot

Independent developer Introversion has introduced its new Rocket Riot multiplayer mode for Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest, a new multiplayer variant of the company's flatness-loving action-RTS hybrid Darwinia. Rocket Riot is a capture-and-hold race to build and launch a rocket.

Multiwinia will premiere on PCs in September. An Xbox 360 version called Darwinia+, containing the original single-player Darwinia and Multiwinia, will arrive as a digital download on Xbox Live Arcade late this year.

Multiwinia Hits PCs in September, XBLA in Late 2008

Independent developer Introversion Software has informed Shacknews that it expects the upcoming Darwinia multiplayer variant Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest to hit PCs this coming September.

The studio also revealed that Darwinia+, a version of the title for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade platform containing both Multiwinia and Darwinia's single-player campaign, would see release later this year.

Originally released on PCs in 2005, Darwinia tasked players with saving friendly AI programs from a tyrannical virus in the confines of a computer system. The game's stylish, simplistic graphics engine and genre-splicing gameplay helped elevate the title to a cult classic.

Multiwinia Screens Feature Lo-fi Warfare

Publisher Introversion has released a new set of screenshots from Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest (PC, 360), a multiplayer variant of its 2005 PC strategy game Darwinia.

In addition to a standalone PC release, Multiwinia is also slated to hit the Xbox 360 as part of Darwinia+, a downloadable XBLA package which includes the original game as well as the new multiplayer functionality.

Introversion has not yet announced a release date for either platform.
