Publisher Midway has announced that the eighth entry in its Mortal Kombat fighting series' will pit the franchises' characters against the legion of superheroes contained within the DC Comics universe.

Titled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and developed by Midway Amusement Games, the Unreal Engine 3-powered brawler is set to arrive on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall. Only four characters have been confirmed thus far: Superman and Batman, both of DC Comics fame, and Mortal Kombat veterans Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

The Mortal Kombat franchise will be returning later this year in the form of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (PS3, X360), publisher Midway announced today.
