Neither article is very lenghty but PC.IGN and GameSpot both have impressions of Breakthrough, the new Medal of Honor expansion pack that will be out later this year.

New on GameSpot this afternoon is a Medal of Honor Breakthrough Q&A with Jody Hicks of TKO Software. Questions are about the missions in this Allied Assault expansion pack, new weapons and items, the length, new multiplayer features, and the planned ship date.

Over at WorthPlaying you can find a couple of new screenshots from Breakthrough, the second expansion pack for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Developed by TKO Software, the expansion will be released later this year.

As mentioned in a recent story about Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, work was underway on a second expansion pack for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. EA has now announced this expansion pack which will be called Breakthrough.

As U.S. Army Sergeant John Baker, players join the battle at Kasserine Pass in North Africa, race to capture Messina in Sicily, and finally repel the German army at the historic battle of Monte Battaglia in the heart of Italy. Armed with a new arsenal of weapons, players will fight alone and with squad mates as they rush to stop the Axis powers.
The multiplayer game has been enhanced with the addition of Liberation Mode. In this mode, defeated players must be rescued by surviving teammates to continue the fight. In addition, players can drive tanks, artillery spotters can call in artillery strikes, and minesweepers can defuse mines. Players can also choose from American, British, Italian, and German skins in all multiplayer modes.

In development at a company called TKO Software, the new expansion pack is due out this fall.

Electronic Arts has released a new Spearhead patch, updating the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault expansion pack to version 2.25. You will need patch 2.11 installed. You can find the file mirrored on FileShack. The patch just fixes a bunch of bugs, as well as the GameSpy DOS exploit.

There's another update on the Medal of Honor SDK on Planet Medal of Honor. Recently they reported this was coming soon, now it's a little more specific, next week.

Planet Medal of Honor has reposted a forum post by EA's Chris Shelton, who writes about an upcoming patch for Spearhead, the recently released Medal of Honor: Allied Assault expansion pack. Chris also mentions the release of an SDK for the expansion, including "a brief list would be tutorials on how to set up single player AI, mounted weapons, TOW map documention, and a model exporter for 3DSMax. Also some updated TIKI documentation will be included as well as some .map source files, amongst other things.".

EA has released a patch for the Medal of Honor Spearhead demo, fixing a server bug. There's also a dedicated Windows server for the retail version of the expansion.

As promised, the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault: Spearhead multiplayer demo is now available. The demo contains two levels, one of which is exclusive to this demo. There are also four new skins British, American, Russian and German troops and a new axis weapon has been added. Get the 142mb demo from FileShack now.

EA sent out a press release, releasing some more info about the upcoming Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Spearhead demo. In addition to the previously announced Malta level (story), the demo will also include the Tug-of-War map Druckkammern. Tug-of-War is a team-based mode where you battle for control points. The demo also features a new axis weapon and it will have four new skins for the British, Russian, American and German troops. The Spearhead demo will be out on Saturday, the full expansion will be in stores November 12.

The official Medal of Honor: Allied Assault website has been updated again, the latest update being about a demo for the Spearhead expansion being released this Friday.
