3D Realms is now taking pre-orders for the upcoming 3rd person action shooter Max Payne on http://www.buymaxpayne.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="external. The first 50k people to order it directly from 3D Realms get a free mousepad. The game itself is $39.95. The release is still "when it's done" but obviously you wont be billed until the game ships.

Bill Nadalini from the Gathering let us know they have relaunched their Max Payne site. Now Flash-enhanced and with 8 brand new screenshots for you to spank to. There's also a FAQ available answering questions about the release date, a demo and other things people might wonder about.

Q: Will Max Payne have a multiplayer mode?
A: There will not be a multiplayer. Originally we planned out full multiplayer functionality, but as we went further into the project we started to have so much cool stuff that work great in single player but wouldn't work in a multiplayer game that we changed the focus to single player only. There's plenty enough good multiplayer games out there, but the single player genre needs great games as well.

Q: What about environment interactivity? Real world environment requires interactivity, right?
A: The environments are extremely interactive. Our tools let us create interactive content very easily, and we're going for really high level of interacting with the environment.

Fan site Payne Reactor has an interview with Markus Stein of Remedy, asking him about the 3rd person action game Max Payne which is coming out in a few months.

Over at the Max Payne Zone is a new interview with people from Remedy, the guys behind Max Payne. Thanks Blues News. They ask Remedy how they got the idea for the game, the name Max Payne, why the development time has been so long, why the game is set in New York, and a whole lot more.

The Daily Telefrag has a few new screenshots from Remedy's Max Payne along with a few earlier screenshots that have been online before.

VE has an interview with the Max Payne guys who mention that the game is actually 'very very close' to being complete and they are just slapping on the spit shine before calling it golden.

Besides the Duke 4 video we also have the E3 2001 Max Payne video to download. This video showing Remedy's upcoming (should be this summer) 3rd person action game is available in MPG and WMV format. The MPG clocks in at 49.6mb, while the WMV version is 39mb. Our server is quickly maxing out, I'll be sure to include mirrors in this story as soon as I see them.

The Italian gaming site Multiplayer.it has managed to obtain four more (dark) new screenshots from Remedy's 3rd person action game Max Payne. Saw that at Blues.

Guess we weren't quite cool enough but Blues News and Stomped received four new screenshots from Max Payne. These came with an announcement of the Playstation2 version of the game, but the shots are from the PC version. Max Payne is the long-awaited 3rd person action game from Remedy and 3D Realms, and it should ship later this year. Of course we still have our own screenshots, but they are a little older.

Max Payne Zone managed to corner Scott Miller of 3DRealms into answering a few questions about uh.. some game I cant remember. Probably Max Payne?

The GameSpot guys have shown up with a new trailer of MaxPayne from Remedy. (Some familiar stuff in there, but a snip or two is new I think) We havent heard much about this game in quite a while eh? I thought it looked pretty cool back at last E3 but looking cool and being a cool game are pretty different. :)

A Fatbabies story and PlanetCrap thread are reporting about a possible cancellation of Max Payne because publisher Gathering of Developers would be unhappy with progress. While 3D Realms' Scott Miller replied on Planetcrap saying "It's not a rumor...it's true", he is known to add fuel to flames though, especially on Planetcrap. Mike Wilson and Doug Myres from GOD both deny the rumors, as has George Broussard from 3DR. What, you want screenshots? Here ya go!.

In The Trenches has a new interview, today asking Remedy Entertainment's Henri Blafield about modelling. There is a (real large) picture of Max Payne included as well, showing the skin of Max being worked on.

MPZone has the entire Max Payne video from this month's PC Action magazine. The site and the voice over are in German, but of course you can still appreciate the visuals. It's 19mb.

Some new footage of MaxPayne has shown up on this website. The stuff they are saying is some kinda gibberish but game footage is the universal language. Thanks VE
