An expanded Lost Planet 2 demo will be released on PlayStation 3 next Thursday, September 24, offering two extra missions not found in the earlier Xbox 360 demo.

Over on the PlayStation.Blog, developer Capcom noted that the those two additional missions continue the "online co-operative extermination of the Akrid of E.D.N. III."

Sporting both single-player and online co-op for up to four players, Capcom's not-so-snowy shooter sequel arrives on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this winter.

Lost Planet 2, Mini Ninjas Demos Released

Aug 19, 2009 10:55am CST tags: Lost Planet 2, Mini Ninjas, GamesCom 2009
With GamesCom 2009 currently underway in the far-off land of Germany, both Capcom and Eidos have opted to go above and beyond the traditional media pleasantry of such conventions by providing the rest of us with something to play, not just look at.

One of these things is not like the other.
Eidos' offering comes in the form of a sample for Mini Ninjas, the latest from Hitman developer IO Interactive. The demo is now available for PC via FileShack and for the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live, with the PlayStation 3 demo out tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Capcom has delivered a demo of Lost Planet 2 for Xbox 360. Please note that both Xbox 360 demos will be restricted to Xbox Live Gold members for a week, until August 26, at which point they'll be available to those with free Silver accounts.

Lost Planet 2 Co-op Demo Coming 'Soon'

Jun 29, 2009 7:02pm CST tags: Lost Planet 2
The Xbox 360 demo for Capcom's shooter sequel Lost Planet 2, first introduced on the show floor at this year's E3, will be released to the public "soon" according to producer Jun Takeuchi.

Takeuchi mentioned the plan during an interview on Famitsu's "Midnight Live 360," a comment caught and picked up by Joystiq. The demo will feature four player co-op support.

Originally an Xbox 360 exclusive, the PlayStation 3 and PC flavors versions of Lost Planet 2 were announced during E3. The game is now set to arrive this winter.

Lost Planet 2 Coming to PlayStation 3 Too

At long last ending the perpetual platform drama regarding Capcom's Lost Planet 2, a PlayStation 3 version of the action game sequel was confirmed at E3 last week.

Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton made a passing mention of a PlayStation 3 edition during his company's press conference, dating it for early 2010.

Upon its revelation earlier this year, Lost Planet 2 was only announced for Xbox 360. Capcom later teased PC and PS3 editions, and confirmed the PC version shortly after. Given Capcom's policy against major platform exclusives, this isn't that surprising.

Still no word on the downloadable Xbox 360 demo of Lost Planet 2 that Capcom was hoping to have out around now, but the full game is due no later than March 31, 2010.

Lost Planet 2 Trailer Summons Colossal Beast

In this post-Shadow of the Colossus world, I'm a bit bummed that we haven't seen more giant boss fights that encourage climbing some mammoth foe to find their mythical weak spot . Thankfully, it looks like Capcom's going to fix that with Lost Planet 2.

Lost Planet 2 Demo Coming Around E3 Time, PlayStation 3 and PC Versions Teased

Apr 28, 2009 10:41am CST tags: Lost Planet 2, Xbox Live Marketplace
Capcom is planning to release a downloadable demo of Lost Planet 2 for Xbox 360 owners "round about E3," reports Eurogamer and Kotaku. The word came down from Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi, who was speaking at a recent press event.

This year's E3 runs from June 2-4. Capcom premiered the first downloadable demo for the Xbox 360 edition of the original Lost Planet back during the E3 of 2006.

Though Capcom has only announced Lost Planet 2 for Xbox 360, Takeuchi teased possible PC and PlayStation 3 editions. "It is running off a PC now, so there may be something we can announce fairly shortly," he said of a PC release, adding that "we would not say that the possibility of a PlayStation 3 version of the game is zero."

No solid release date for the game yet, but it's expected to arrive before March 31, 2010.

Lost Planet 2 Only Announced for Xbox 360

Feb 25, 2009 10:21am CST tags: Lost Planet 2, Screenshots
Following the revelation of Lost Planet 2 on Monday, Capcom officially announced the action-adventure sequel today, noting that at this point, it's only coming to Xbox 360.

Taking place 10 years after the first Lost Planet, the new entry follows the various snow pirate factions as they battle for control over the once-icy planet. Alongside the single-player mode, a multiplayer campaign will offer four-person cooperative online play.

While the game is only announced for Xbox 360, several factors point to the possibility of an eventual multi-platform release, including the part where Capcom quite clearly swore off platform exclusives for its major releases, and the part where Capcom development head Keiji Inafune just mentioned a multi-platform Lost Planet sequel.

Amusingly, the original Lost Planet, which ended up on PC and PlayStation 3 after its initial Xbox 360 release, was long promoted as an Xbox 360 exclusive... Read more

Capcom Reveals Lost Planet 2, First Trailer Arrives

Whereas the original 2007 shooter featured a snow-covered planet and little else, the sequel is at least partially set in a sunny jungle environment, thanks to terraforming. More information on Lost Planet 2 is expected from Capcom later today.

While an Xbox 360 version is the only confirmed release at this time, PC and PlayStation 3 editions of the sequel are likely given that the original Lost Planet hit those platforms and Capcom has sworn off platform exclusivity for its major releases.

The confirmation follows a report from last month, in which Capcom development head Keiji Inafune said that both Lost Planet 2 and the now-confirmed Dead Rising 2 were in the works. At the time, Capcom played coy and suggested a mistranslation.

Update: Capcom says that the official press release is coming on Wednesday.

Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2 Seemingly Confirmed; Capcom Suggests 'Mistranslation'

Jan 28, 2009 9:53am CST tags: Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2, Capcom
Capcom development head and Mega Man character designer Keiji Inafune has apparently confirmed that sequels to both Dead Rising and Lost Planet are on the way.

"We're finally putting out new Dead Rising and Lost Planet games," said Inafune in an interview with Famitsu, as translated by Kotaku. "As a main principle we're thinking about multi-platform, and expanding upon both slightly from the Xbox 360 version."

While a new Dead Rising entry has been rumored for quite some time, it's possible that Inafune was merely referring to the forthcoming Wii release of the zombie-killing franchise. However, a Lost Planet sequel was previously unknown.

When reached for comment, Capcom UK told CVG that "at the moment we have made no official announcement regarding a [Dead Rising] sequel...as the source is [Japanese magazine Famitsu], I can only suggest that it was a mistranslation."

Capcom is currently prepping a big budget movie based off the icy shooting antics of Lost Planet, and has previously stated that gamers "haven't seen the last of Dead Rising," which was exclusive to Xbox 360. The publisher recently vowed that it's done with platform exclusives and hinted at the Dead Rising franchise hitting PS3.
