Jedi Academy Announced

Apr 03, 2003 12:43pm CST tags: LucasArts, Jedi Academy
Here it is, the official announcement for Jedi Knight 3, or rather Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, as that is the official title. LucasArts has also opened the official site and you can find screenshots here. Thanks to The International House of Mojo.
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy begins shortly after the conclusion of events in Star Wars Jedi Outcast. Players create a Jedi apprentice character and join the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4 to learn the ways of the Force under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker and Kyle Katarn. While the young apprentice embarks on various missions to hone their skills and abilities, a mysterious group is discovered creating havoc throughout the galaxy. Until order is restored, the fate of the Jedi Academy - and the future of the Star Wars galaxy itself - hangs precariously in the balance.
While players will be able to accomplish more by using the lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, they also will have a variety of weapons - new and old - at their disposal including a blaster, blaster rifle, Wookiee bowcaster, Imperial repeater, and a Destructive Electro-Magnetic Pulse gun.
Jedi Academy will be released this fall on PC and Xbox.

Jedi Knight 3 Q&A

Apr 02, 2003 10:17am CST tags: Activision, Jedi Academy
Games Domain is the first site to post a Jedi Knight 3 interview, asking Activision producer Graham Fuchs and Raven's Jon Zuk & Steve Raffel about the new Jedi Knight game. Questions are about the absence of Kyle Katarn, the game's non-linear structure, engine enhancements, enemies, force powers and plenty of other things. Non-scanned screenshots are included as well.
GD: This is the first in the series that doesn't feature Kyle Katarn as the lead character. So what can you tell us on the basic storyline?
GF: You can create your own character who is a student at the Jedi Academy training to become a Jedi Knight, so you're going to work with Kyle and Luke. As you saw in Episode 1, the Jedi train by going out in the field, with more experienced Jedi, and working various missions. That's the loose structure of what the player is going to be doing. All these missions form a larger story that will flow through the entire game.

Jedi Knight 3 Revealed?

Mar 30, 2003 11:58am CST tags: Activision, Jedi Academy
Though not even officially announced (it was mentioned a recent Activision conference call), the new issue of the German magazine GameStar has a feature on Jedi Knight 3. Raven Software is once again developing, using the Quake 3 engine. For info from the article itself check out JediKnightII.net. Some screenshots can be found in this LucasForums thread. Thanks Jake & nova.
Thus, for the first time in the Dark Forces series, you don't play as Kyle Katarn! Instead, you create a character for yourself. Create? Yes, similar to a role-playing game you choose your characters gender, race (Humans and Twi'leks are confirmed so far) face, hair cut and clothing! And the customization doesn't end there: you also choose a saber handle, colour and whether you want to use one or two sabers! Later on, you will also get a Darth Maul-style double-bladed saber.
There is also this GameStar page .. of course this could all be a joke :)
