EA has finally officially announced the new James Bond game Gearbox is working, James Bond 007: NightFire. Besides the PC, the game will appear on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube though Gearbox will not be porting the game. The game will be released late this year.

NightFire will feature an original single player storyline -- written exclusively for the game and borrowing from the rich 007-legacy that spans 40 years. As Bond, players will operate in the snow capped Austrian Alps and the far reaches of outer space as well as underwater in the depths of the South Pacific to defeat the evil criminal mastermind Rafael Drake, the popular head of a supposedly benign environmental organization who secretly is bent on world domination.

NightFire features more than 10 exotic locations from around the globe and outer space. Each of the mission levels will offer enormous, highly detailed 3D environments that can only be experienced through the eyes of Bond. Level designs challenge players to determine when to blast their way through using high tech weaponry, keenly employ spy-craft tricks and upgradeable gadgets, or stealthily maneuver their way as they accomplish mission objectives and strive for the maximum agent ratings. Gearbox's New Game

The March issue of Computer Gaming World reveals that GearBox Software is finally coming out from the shadow of Valve Software and doing a project that isnt related to the Half-Life universe.. (Albeit it's a damn fine and profitable shadow to be in). Thanks HomeLanFed. There isnt a heck of a lot of detail about what they are working but we can gather this much.

- James Bond license
- Electronic Arts publisher
- Multi-platform although not specified
- Described as the "thinking mans shooter" (ed: You have to find the yellow and blue key to make the green key!)

The other question that remains, what technology would they use for the engine? In house? Valve's Tech? DOOM tech? Lets put Pat Hook's nuts in a vise and find out! Right Pat!?
