New James Bond Details Emerge

Aug 22, 2007 11:12am CST tags: Activision, James Bond, Vicarious Visions
Publisher Activision has doled out a few morsels of information on its plans for the James Bond property. Referred to as "the company's newest blockbuster franchise," entries in the series are planned for unspecified "next-generation" and handheld platforms along with PC. The titles are being handled by developers Treyarch, Beenox and Vicarious Visions.

Earlier this year, Treyarch handled the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of Spider-Man 3, while Vicarious Visions tackled the Wii and DS iterations along with the two DS versions of Transformers. Beenox is responsible for the PC releases of licensed Activision titles, including Spider-Man 3 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. It is expected the studios will function in a similar capacity for James Bond.

(Carried over from last night) Well, it looks like a pleasant surprise for the late nighters tonight. The 007 Nightfire demo from Gearbox Software published by Electronic Arts has made its way online a little early! You can of course grab the demo from Fileshack although considering we're one of the first out the gate with this demo the wait times may bite ya in the ass. Sadly bandwidth isnt free.

Demo players will be able to play the Japanese Estate level, which finds Bond trying to defend the turncoat Mayhew from the evil Raphael Drake's Japanese henchmen. The official NightFire website, located at http://www.007.ea.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="external , gives Bond fans an opportunity to receive more information about James Bond 007: NightFire prior to its ship date. Mission updates on the site include concept art, objectives, screenshots, and video clips. The site also contains images and descriptions of key characters and weapons as well as the Aston Martin Vanquish. The Q Lab section will launch shortly, featuring all the in-game gadgets as well as behind-the-scenes information, additional characters, and possibly game hints.

James Bond Nightfire Interview

Aug 29, 2002 1:02pm CST tags: Electronic Arts, Gearbox, James Bond, Interview
Computer & Video Games got to visit Electronic Arts recently and interviewed James Bond: Nightfire product manager Don Mesa and producer Michael Condrey about this upcoming first person shooter. There are a few non-platform specific questions, as well as questions about the differences between the PC and console version and things that make the PC version stand out from other first person shooters. Here's an interesting bit on the multiplayer options that Gearbox is putting in the PC version.
On the content side, you can do things like play in a lot of the classic Bond maps from all the last 20 films of Bond. You can play against Odd Job from Goldfinger in Fort Knox or against Jaws in the space station form Moonraker. We've also tried to do interesting things with gadget play, so you can use the Q-grapple or X-ray vision - all the things that make it feel like Bond.
Then, of course, there're the modes, and we're doing Capture the Flag along with the Deathmatch stuff and we're also looking at doing things more Bond-specific.
Be sure to check out the Nightfire trailer.
