Project IGI2 Banned (In China)

BBC News is reporting that Project IGI2: Covert Strike has been banned in China. Why? Because it features missions where you steal intelligence and conduct sabotage in the country. This is said to "smear the country's image" and so all copies of the game will be confiscated. Now IGI2 was an average game, but still, come on guys. Update: good times, Codemasters hasn't even published/distributed this game in China. Thanks the archvile.

The first patch for IGI 2: Covert Strike has been released, updating UK and Nordic versions of the game. The patch offers some bug fixes, as well as a new multiplayer mission. There is an updated dedicated server release as well.

New IGI 2 SP Demo

Codemasters send along a new IGI2: Covert Strike demo, offering a level "high in the Carpathian Mountains and has David Jones, our IGI (Institute for Geotactical Intelligence) agent, on a reconnaissance mission tracking down a nano-technology chip, held by the local mafia". The full version of the game will be out very soon.

Not sure what happened but it looked like we carried the previous demo for a while. This has now been fixed. Oops.

A new version of the IGI 2: Covert Strike multiplayer demo has been released, updating the code to a more recent version of the game. Following the release of the multiplayer beta a week ago, Codemasters has now released a single player demo of IGI 2: Covert Strike. The 138mb demo contains a mission "set in a goldmine in the Carpathian foothills of Romania and sees David Jones, our IGI (Institute for Geotactical Intelligence) agent, investigating the theft of an advanced nano-technology device by an organised crime syndicate". Good news for the IGI2 fans coming from IGI 2: Covert Strike a UK Fan Site where they are reporting that the current closed multiplayer beta is going public in January. There's also word that some additional multiplayer levels will be released after the game is out in stores. If you don't dig on multiplayer, a singleplayer demo will be out in January as well.
