Huxley Delayed Again

Nov 17, 2008 5:08pm CST tags: Huxley, Delay, MMO
Webzen's oft-delayed shooter MMO Huxley (PC), originally slated to hit in 2006 and most recently expected to hit North America in late 2008, has been delayed once again.

The North American release was delayed due to localization issues, publisher NHN USA informed Big Download, with the English version of the free-to-play game now expected to hit within the first half of 2009. The Korean version is currently in open beta.

No details were provided as to the Xbox 360 version, announced in 2005, though Webzen has long promised that it will follow the PC release.

The PC edition of Webzen's shooter MMO Huxley will hit North America and Western Europe in "late 2008," publisher NHN USA has revealed.

A subsidiary of Korean internet company NHN, the company will distribute the latest from Korea-based developer Webzen via its ijji.com portal. The title was announced for Xbox 360 and PC in late 2005 and was originally due in 2006.

"Huxley is one of the most anticipated online games currently in development, and we are very excited to bring the triple-A title to Western audiences," NHN USA CEO Whon Namkoon stated in the announcement today.

No mention was made of the Xbox 360 version, though Webzen previously stated that the 360 release would follow that of the PC edition.

Shack Interview: Huxley

Coming in 2007 is Huxley, an Unreal Engine 3 powered MMOFPS from Korean developer Webzen. Today we have an interview about the project, with David asking producer KJ Kang about the game's battle grounds, weapons, races, combat and more.
Huxley is divided into two playable races: Sapiens and Alternatives. The Sapiens consist of the factions ONE and SYN while the Alternatives include Alteravers and Alternixes. Players can choose their races and then choose their character’s faction. Huxley is a battle game where all characters begin in almost identical conditions and users develop their characters in accordance to their individuality. Thus, I would like to say that there is no clear concept of different classes (such as warriors and wizards in fantasy role-playing games) in Huxley. There is no division of fixed and clear duties and actions either (such as the number of rifleman or medic of military service in military genres). However, players can choose game playing styles of their preference and weapons to match the style of their choice.
