Oct 05, 2007 11:56am CST tags: Hellgate: London, Trailer
Today we bring you extensive gameplay footage from Flagship Studios' hack-and-shoot online RPG Hellgate: London, featuring two characters: my lowly Blademaster, and my kick-ass Engineer. Shown is the exciting questing structure, the character and gameplay UIs, subway storefronts, bizarre NPCs, varied environments, monstrous bosses, and, of course, plenty of zombie slicing and dicing.

You can grab the full 8 minute video on FileShack, or you can stream a clip below. Be sure to read our impressions of the game so far, and check back for further coverage as we find the time to level up.

Hellgate: London Beta Impressions

Oct 02, 2007 5:18am CST tags: MMO, Hellgate: London
Most of the Shack staff has been enjoying Flagship Studios' Hellgate: London beta recently, and as the editor with the most time played so far, Nick Breckon has delivered our first round of hands-on impressions. The bottom line: ex-Diablo addicts, this is your game--Flagship just has to work out some kinks.

Peruse our homegrown screenshots, and check back this and next week for further impressions.

Hellgate: London is a long-needled shot to the blackened, burned-out veins of every past Diablo II addict. It's a fresh brand of juice for MMO players tired of tawdry gameplay that promises the world and serves up a thinly-veiled smorgasbord of boring. It's a brooding, blood-soaked crawl, with ripe, fat-bellied zombies, and wicked monsters that are all too satisfying to hack and shoot to pieces.

It also needs a good deal of work.

E3 07: Hellgate: London Impressions & Interview

Jul 16, 2007 9:30am CST tags: MMO, Hellgate: London, E3, E3 07, Interview
In the dungeon-like maze of E3's Barker Hanger, I spoke with former Diablo II: Lord of Destruction lead programmer Tyler Thompson, now the tech director on Flagship Studios' PC RPG shooter Hellgate: London. As he fired away at monsters, I verbally hacked and slashed my way into his mind, emerging with only the most elite looted info on topics ranging from out-of-game currency exchange to pricing models and content plans. Equip yourself with knowledge.

On MMO currency trade: It's definitely a sign of a healthy economy in a game when items have value and currency has value. If people are actually putting value on those things because they're putting value on their time, people are really enjoying and playing the game. Because we have instance play, you're not gonna be running into gold farmers that are going to be stealing all your stuff or taking all your kills. Read the rest....
