IBM's MRAM

CNN's Technology section is reporting about a new memory type that IBM and Infineon Technologies AG have been working on called MRAM (magnetic random access memory technology). This new RAM, which could replace most of the previous types of RAM, should also be able to give us instant booting computers which would be pretty neat.

New Detonator Releases

NVidia has released new Detonator drivers for the videocards powered by their chipsets. There's a Windows XP/2K driver and one for Win9x/ME. NVidia boasts that the new driver has "The industry's best Microsoft DirectX 9 support". Thanks Blues News.

DirectX 9.0a Released

Several people let us know that Microsoft has released a new version of DirectX 9, now at 9.0a. According to Microsoft, "This release also resolves an issue with DirectX 9.0 where some multiplayer games or MSN Messenger may not work correctly. A number of minor bugs were also resolved.". Update: not sure what happened to the download link.

ATI & NVidia Mobile

CPU Price Cuts

This MSNBC article mentions that there's been a new round of CPU price cuts. Intel slashes Pentium 4 prices by some 21% while AMD cut prices up to 32%. Don't expect to find the P4 3.06 and 2.8ghz all that much cheaper though, they were only cut by 6% and 8%.

3DMark03 by the folks at Futuremark is just about ready to be released, it's gonna be all purty and test out DX9 capabilities and everyone will be measuring their 'e-penis' (Thanks Lowtax) together!
