WD1500 Raptor Drive Review

Western Digital is finally coming out with a new 10,000 RPM Raptor harddrive, as Storage Review has posted a review of the WD1500, a 150gb model which should be available soon for around $300. Besides the increased space, the drive's cache is now 16mb.

Abit Not Doing Too Well

Tech Report has a story up about the financial saga of Abit, as the company isn't doing too great. Sales have dropped a whopping 96% during the past year, and the company's worth has fallen from NT$10.8 billion last November to NT$1.7 billion now. Taiwan's security regulatory agency has also requested the company restates its results from 2003, 2004, and part of 2005 or face delisting from the stock exchange. Any future manufacturing by the company will be outsourced, as its own production facilities are being sold.

Seagate Buys Maxtor

Hard drive manufacturer Seagate today announced that it is buying rival Maxtor in a 1.9 billion dollar deal. Seagate hopes the deal will add 10 percent to 20 percent to its earnings during the first year of the merger.

ASUS AGEIA PhysX Card In February

Cool Tech Zone is reporting on ASUS AGEIA PhysX Expansion Card, mentioning that the card has actually been ready for a while now but has not yet been released due to the lack of game support. ASUS expects that several games will be out by February of next year, which is when it will start mass production of the physics accelerator card.

MSI Announces Motherboard With Integrated Audigy

Hardware manufacturer MSI has announced the MSI K8N Diamond Plus, a new motherboard powered by an nForce 4 SLI chipset while also featuring an integrated Sound Blaster Audigy SE soundchip. Though Creative does not list that product on its website just yet, according to the description the Audigy SE features "high level 24-bit/192kHz sampling, 106dB S/N ratio, and EAX ADVANCED HD audio technology".
