Halo Update

Mar 03, 2001 11:01am CST tags: Bungie, Halo
The latest Halo update is up at Battlegrounds: Halo. As always, Bungie's Matt Soell gives an update on what they've been working on.

- The Online Team met with Michael and Hardy to discuss multiplayer game types. It was a nice long meeting with a lot of good ideas thrown around. Hardy has more good ideas for multiplayer game types than any one man has a right to. We'll see how many of them we can make work. He's mocking up multiplayer levels right now and "it's really fun" says he. Michael has networking "up and limping" and is trying to fix the broken stuff.
- Reflection works now. I saw a hologram reflecting off a glass floor situated above The Shaft. Spiffy.

Yes to Halo PC

Jan 22, 2001 3:41pm CST tags: Bungie, Halo
Although I doubt it's the last we hear from Halo and what platform it's going to appear on, Johnny Rotten let us know about this post on the Bungie.org forums. Bungie's Matt Soell says the following in response to yesterday's story about Halo, where people were fearing Halo would be an Xbox only game since EB is no longer accepted pre-orders for the game.

First off: it's a load of bollocks. There WILL be a Mac/PC Halo.

As to why EB pulled it off their site: maybe they figured out that taking preorders so far in advance would only increase the number of irate "Where the hell is it?" calls to their phone centers. I can't speak for them or the motives for their actions. But I can tell you it's not a result of anything we or Microsoft told them. Nameless "higher-ups," my arse.

It just ain't true, folks. Don't believe it.

Voodoo Extreme has the following from a Microsoft PR person

There are still PC and Mac versions planned, but the work is being done on the Xbox version now. work will begin on the PC/Mac versions once the Xbox one is finished.

Halo & Microsoft

Jan 21, 2001 9:40am CST tags: Halo, Microsoft
According to word via AMDZone which I cant really find a mention of it now but I'll just quote VoodooExtreme instead, Halo on the PC seems to be in question again... great. It seems that we'll still see the game sooner or later on the PC, but I'm betting that its one hell of a lot later knowing Microsoft. Damn it I remember being excited as hell when Halo was first shown and those cool screenshots were coming out.

EBWorld will no longer be accepting pre-orders for the PC version of Halo, as they were informed by the "higher-ups" that Halo would be an Xbox exclusive title and to cease accepting pre-orders for the game. Considering EBWorld will take pre-orders for literally anything, this could be some pretty strong news that Microsoft plans to keep Halo off the PC... But - I just asked the official PR rep who handles Halo and he says as far as he knows the PC and Mac versions are still on, and will know more next week.

Halo Chat

Dec 20, 2000 10:20pm CST tags: Bungie, Halo
There was a Halo chat with some of the Bungie guys a couple of hours ago on IGN, and several websites have edited chat logs. Xbox Faction, MSXbox, XboxAddict, choose whatever you like, heh. Matt and John from Bungie answered a lot of questions with "undecided" and "can't tell yet", but they did stress again that Halo will appear on the PC and Mac as well besides the Xbox.

Q: Will all the Xbox, Mac and pc users be able to play together?
A: It's really hard to say at this point one way or another, but if I had to bet I'd say no. PC/Mac netplay is a more likely proposition, if you catch my drift.

Q: Will the X-Box have a simultaneous release date on X-Box and the PC?
A: I already answered that, but for anyone who missed it: no. The Xbox version will ship before the Mac/PC versions. I don't know how much later they'll follow, but they're a separate development effort.
