Half-Life 2 for Xbox - Soon?

Aug 17, 2001 1:59pm CST tags: Bungie, Valve, Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2 for Xbox confirmed is a news article on Gamespot Australia saying Half-Life 2 is coming out for the Xbox, even though a PC version of the game hasn't been confirmed as of yet. While that's not even that weird, supposedly the game is shipping in October of this year. The thing is though, the Xbox isn't supposed to be out until November. Thanks Voodoo Extreme.

Half-Life, the highly acclaimed first-person shooter by Valve Software is set to re-invigorate players in the surprise appearance of Half-Life 2 on the Xbox release schedule.
This may indicate that other versions of Half-Life 2 may take longer to reach customers -- as is suspected of Halo, Bungie software's epic future warfare title. Halo was originally slated for initial release on PC and Macintosh, but since Bungie became a first-party developer for Microsoft, their plans have changed to favour the Xbox as a release platform for the game.

Update: Stomped has spoken with a Valve employee, and confirmed that the story is false.

Half-Life 2 Bit

People keep sending this story (scroll down) in so I guess we'll post it although a bit redundant at this point. There have been a number of reports of Valve Software working on a Half-Life2 project along side the TF2 project. Most recently Ken Perlin who is working in cooperation with Valve Software mentioned Half-Life2 at a seminar being held in LA. Ken is working on some character technology that has the goal of affecting people enough that they can actually "fall in love" with a character. Since many people missed it, the president of Sierra Online confirmed the Half-Life 2 project in September of 1999. Oh yeah, and Robin "Right-O" Walker mentioned it (heh) as well.

... going to be designed to let players "fall in love" with the in-game characters, and he also stated that due to the nature of the Half-Life style of play, this may or may not end up going into the Half-Life sequel. Still, this does at least confirm the existence of a team working on Half-Life 2
