GlobalOps Site

The official site for Global Operations has been opened. This game you might remember from the "100x better than Counter-Strike" quote (clarification here). Global Ops is powered by the Lithtech engine and on this site for the game you can find screenshots from player models, game enviroments and weapons. There's also some concept art and forums but no info on the game itself actually.

Global Ops Clarification

Feb 08, 2001 4:33am CST tags: Global Operations
Many of you have noticed Maarten and I like to throw around that "100 times better than Counter-Strike" quote whenever talking about the upcoming Global Ops game. Well Jeff Barnhart, a producer over at Crave Entertainment sent this along in hopes of clarifying that quote:

... a bit of misunderstanding about something I said to one editor in one interview a while ago. The quote in question is the one about the game being 100 times better than counterstrike. This wasn't intended to be interpreted the way it sounds, I was just very excited about the game and said this as a way to express how excited I was about it. Second, I work for Crave Entertainment, not Barking Dog. Barking Dog has been pinned as the people that said this quote, and as much as I hate to admit this, it was me.

The development team didn't actually claim anything at all. I really want people to look at Global Operations for what it is, and not by trying to hold it up to a 100% measuring stick next to CounterStrike. The two games are apples and oranges from each other, and this quote is creating a barrier that isn't allowing people to see past this.

Thanks for your help, Jeff Barnhart, Producer Crave Entertainment
