With this year's Leipzig Games Convention boasting recording attendance numbers and a second Southeast Asian Games Convention planned, organizer Leipziger Messe has announced its intent to pursue a similar game-oriented event in North America.

First held in 2002, the Leipzig Games Convention allows both the public and the press to experience upcoming titles from a variety of publishers, and is often used to stage product announcements. This year's event saw over 203,000 attendees--a new record.

"The concept is flexible and the network of the global games industry permits us to be active at different locations," Leipziger Messe CEO Wolfgang Marzin said in a press release. "After the Southeast Asian Games Convention, we are now focusing on the North American market."

Other major gaming events located in North America include the E3 Media & Business Summit, Game Developers Conference, E for All, and PAX, though only the latter two are open to the general public.

However, the North American convention circuit has been mired by criticism and participation woes, which were recently exasperated by Ziff Davis's cancellation of its Digital Life Conference and lacking publisher interest in E for All.

Update: Left 4 Dead will hit North America on November 18, followed by a European release on November 21, Valve marketing VP Doug Lombardi informed Shacknews.

While the new date coincides with the 10th anniversary of the original Half-Life, Lombardi described it as an ironic coincidence, and explained that the game was delayed for fine tuning.

Original: The release of Valve's cooperative zombie shooter Left 4 Dead has been postponed until November 20, company president Gabe Newell revealed to Gamekings.

"Left 4 Dead is going to be released on the tenth anniversary of Half-Life, our first game," said Newell. "That will be on November 20th, the third week in November."

The oft-delayed title had previously been slated to hit PC and Xbox 360 on November 4. No reason was provided for the brief delay, though the crowded fall season--Gears of War 2 (360) arrives November 7--is believed to be a factor.

While the 2008 Leipzig Games Convention is now over, that hasn't stopped Microsoft from sending over some Leipzig-branded screenshots of Ensemble Studios' Xbox 360-exclusive RTS effort Halo Wars, which is slated to arrive in the first half of 2009.

Project Origin (PC, PS3, X360) has unfortunately suffered a delay, but hopefully soothing the pain are these new trailers from Monolith's F.E.A.R. sequel.

The release of Monolith's spooky shooter Project Origin (PC, PS3, 360) has been pushed out of this year and into 2009, the developer has revealed.

"We're going to release multi SKUs--so PC, PS3, 360, Q1 next year," art lead Dave Matthews told IGN during this year's Leipzig Games Convention. No reason was given for the delay.

Continuing the story set out in Monolith's F.E.A.R., the game had been expected this fall.

As the worldwide September 5 release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (PC) draws near, developer GSC Game World has provided new screenshots from the shooter prequel.

Developer Funcom has announced that the first retail expansion pack for its mature PC MMO Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures will hit next year.

The accompanying teaser image for the expansion, pictured left, suggests that the it will add Oriental areas, foes and lore to the game.

Alongside news of the expansion pack, the developer issued screenshots highlighting the difference between the title's DirectX 9 and Direct X10 graphical effects--with DX10 support coming in a free future update to the core game--along with a look at some of the upcoming free content.

Yet more media is coming in from the Leipzig Games Convention, as THQ sends along new screenshots from Red Faction: Guerilla. The Volition developed third person action game is scheduled for an early 2009 release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Following Bully's debut on PlayStation 2 and later arrival on Xbox 360 and Wii, Rockstar has confirmed that the academia-themed open-world game will ship for PC in October.

The publisher provided little in the way of details, only confirming to IGN that the port will be based on the enhanced Scholarship Edition that debuted earlier this year.

Developed by Mad Doc Software, now Rockstar New England, the Xbox 360 and Wii versions of Bully built off Rockstar Vancouver's original PlayStation 2 release. The 360 edition was afflicted by numerous glitches upon its release, with a patch resolving some of those issues shortly thereafter.

With the Leipzig Games Convention in full swing, publisher Codemasters has unleashed several new screenshot batches from Blue Omega's vertical steampunk shooter Damnation (PC, PS3, 360).

The media includes a sole shot of the PC version, along with single-player pictures and multiplayer images.

Originally crafted as a Unreal Tournament 2004 mod, Damnation hits retail this winter.
