Far Cry DVD In Europe

HomeLAN Fed has a story about the plans to release the first person shooter Far Cry on DVD-ROM. Though this is the case in Europe (There was quite the Shack thread on this already), Ubisoft says the US version will come on CD-ROM.

Shackers FarCry MP BETA Test

In our ongoing quest to get cool stuff Ubisoft was kind enough to agree to give 500 Shackers a chance to play in the upcoming new build of the FarCry limited beta test. Ubisoft was also kind enough to let me choose how we distribute those keys. So with that in mind Maarten and I decided that instead of the predictable Mercury only bonus this one is going out to everyone here. All you need is a Shacknews and Ubisoft username. If you dont already then you suck and we hate you, but you still have a chance to redeem yourself today. Have at it:

- Shacknews username
- Ubisoft username
- Sign up for the beta!

We'll choose 500 users at random late this evening. You MUST have a Ubisoft username to qualify and fill out the application. Oh yeah, that Shacknews account creation page sure is outa date huh?

We have some new Far Cry screenshots for you guys this afternoon, showing a few locations from a preview build of the game. Jason took these with his GeForce 4200 videocard, which means no anti-aliasing in this case.

Far Cry SP Demo

Ubisoft has officially released the Far Cry single-player demo, available as a gigantic 496mb download. The demo features one mission called Fort, and has seven weapons from the game available. To run it you'll need at least a 1Ghz machine with 256mb of RAM available, though 2Ghz and 512mb is recommended.
