Lionhead Planning Microtransaction Store for Fable 3

Oct 22, 2009 5:10pm CST tags: Fable 3
In addition to announcing Natal support for Fable 3 during his BAFTA talk yesterday, Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux also mentioned plans to bring a microtransaction store to Fable 3.

Molyneux said that smaller items such as swords will be sold for around 1 euro at the store, while noting that land masses on the order of Knothole Island will obviously be pricier, according to That VideoGame Blog

In addition to game content, Molyneux also suggested that Lionhead was considering selling game walkthroughs through the store--though he not-so-shockingly admitted that many of these ideas may not come to fruition by the time the game is released.

Peter Molyneux, creator of the Fable series and the Milo demo for Microsoft's motion-sensing Natal peripheral, today announced that Fable 3 will support Natal in some way.
The news comes from a BAFTA lecture Molyneux presented today, which was picked up by Gamesbrief's Nicholas Lovell and VG247.

Up to this point, Molyneux had only hinted at the prospect of supporting Natal in the RPG sequel. Both the game and the peripheral are slated for 2010 releases.

Fable III will be set in a Napoleonic-styled period of Albion, and will allow players to take on a King-like role in influencing the world, according to Eurogamer.

"I think there's something fundamentally wrong with RPGs like Fable," said Molyneux. "It's a mechanic that's been there since the eighties. I'm going to take that foundation stone and throw it away... Read more

Following up on the dry confirmation that more content is coming, Lionhead head Peter Molyneux has dropped a few new details as to what's in store for Fable II (X360).

The next downloadable add-on, "See the Future," should hit in the coming weeks, he told Kotaku. "It's a little bit more story driven [than the first DLC]," Molyneux explained. "It answers some of the questions, if you're a real fan of Fable...it starts to tease and hint at what it starting to happen in the world of Albion and what is happening... Read more

Fable 3 Revealed by British Talk Show Host?

Lionhead Studios is apparently (and unsurprisingly) working on another entry in its open-world action-RPG series, according to British media personality Jonathan Ross.

"Got asked to do voice in Fable 3 tonight," reads a Twitter from Ross, who attended the BAFTA video game awards earlier in the evening. Later on, he added that British comedian and former game journalist Charlie Brooker would lend his voice to Fable 3.

Once the morning came around, however, Ross realized he said something he shouldn't have. Subsequent Twitters show the broadcaster planning to apologize to Lionhead Studios founder Peter Molyneux. When asked if the apology was due to the Fable 3 mention, Ross wrote "yes. No. there is no Fable 3. I don't know. help me."

The last entry in the series, Fable 2, hit Xbox 360 in late 2008 to rave reviews. One piece of game-expanding downloadable content has been released since then. Of course, it's always possible that Ross may have confused an upcoming DLC pack with Fable 3.
