EA Sports MMA Trailer Pulls No Punches

EA has celebrated its announcement that mixed martial arts promotion Strikeforce will feature as a premier league in EA Sports MMA by releasing the mix 'em up's first trailer.

The Strikeforce cage will host bouts with Strikeforce stars including Jake Shields, Brett Rogers, Fedor Emelianenko, Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, with the Strikeforce announcer, commentators and ref "Big John" McCarthy also starring.

EA Sports MMA is scheduled for a 2010 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

First EA Sports MMA Screenshot Released

Close to five months after the game was announced, Electronic Arts has issued the first media from its upcoming MMA fighter.

The shot arrived today via Facebook, with Electronic Arts noting: "First EA SPORTS MMA screen shot that ran in SI this week....and yes...actual game footage."

Little else is known of EA Sports MMA, which is coming from Madden NFL and Tiger Woods PGA Tour developer EA Tiburon. Only a handful of fighters have been confirmed thus far, with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game not due until 2010.

World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko is among the first real-life fighters confirmed to be in EA Sports' upcoming MMA video game, the combatant and publisher jointly announced today.

Exactly how this move will affect Fedor's ongoing negotiations to potentially join the UFC remains unclear, though it's unlikely to be considered a plus as league president Dana White has threatened to ban any fighter from the UFC if they sign with EA.

Gegard Mousasi and Babalu Sobral were also confirmed to appear in the upcoming game, which is slated to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010.

UFC President 'At War' with EA Sports over MMA Game

Following EA Sports' announcement of a new mixed martial arts videogame, a move that comes on the heels of THQ's successful release of UFC 2009 Undisputed, UFC president Dana White now says that any UFC fighter to sign a licensing deal with EA will be kicked from the fighting league.

"EA doesn't give a [expletive] about mixed martial arts," said White in a series of expletive-laden comments made to MMAJunkie.com. "They made that very clear."

THQ's UFC 2009 Undisputed has sold over 2 million copies so far according to the UFC.
White explained that the UFC attempted to court EA for a UFC-licensed game in the past, but that EA refused to meet with the organization.

EA Sports Mixed Martial Arts Game Announced

Electronic Arts today announced "EA Sports MMA," a mixed martial arts title in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a release slated for 2010.

EA Tiburon--best known for its work on the Madden NFL, NCAA Football andTiger Wood PGA Tour series, is working on the game, EA Sports chief Peter Moore added.

In an accompanying press release, the company promised that the game "will feature the most authentic, intense and broad mixed martial arts experience to date - complete with a vast array of top fighters and fighting styles from around the world."
