Dexter: The iPhone Game: The Screenshots

Mar 02, 2009 1:29pm CST tags: Dexter, iPhone, Icarus Studios, Screenshots
Having already jumped from novels to cable television, America's so-called favorite serial killer Dexter Morgan will be entering the interactive realm of the iPhone and iPod Touch this summer, and today, , publisher Marc Ecko issued several new screenshots.
Here's the official company line on what the investigative-style game will pack:
The game is based on the Showtime original hit series DEXTER, and will involve puzzle solving, stealth tactics, mini-games, and "slashing" with the iPhone itself (using the accelerometer tech). You have two choices for how to control Dexter: you can tilt the iPhone left and right, then use the forward and backward buttons on-screen, or use a virtual joystick in the lower corner of the screen. Dexter's interactions with other people require thought and strategy, as to not raise suspicions for Dexter's "Dark Passenger". This means maintaining your "Mask" - if this meter goes all the way down, it is game over.

Developed by Icarus Studios, the game was penned by show writer Timothy Schlattmann and features the vocal talents of Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall.

Showtime Networks and Marc Ecko Entertainment have joined forces to create a game based on the hit show Dexter, according to a report by IGN.

Based on the murderous adventures of a serial killer-killing serial killer, Dexter is an Emmy award-winning program that airs on Showtime and CBS.

"Dexter is the extremely rare TV show with enough layers of action and tension to translate perfectly into a compelling videogame," said vice president of Marc Ecko Entertainment Marc Fernandez. "Our game designers, writers, and artists are going to give Dexter's morally complex world the kind of interactivity that gamers will love."

Marc Ecko Entertainment will serve as co-developer on the project. No platform specifics, release date information, or other developer details have been announced.
