Capcom corporate officer Christian Svensson revealed that the PC edition of the company's demon-slaying action title Devil May Cry 4 (PC, PS3, 360) saw poor sales since it debuted early last month, owing in some part to rampant piracy of the game.

"It's not doing as well as I would like in the US at retail," Svensson wrote on Capcom's official blog. "It's such a good version and it really deserves better sales. I know it's getting pirated to hell and back (it was up on torrents literally the day it shipped)."

New on FileShack this morning is the PC demo for Devil May Cry 4. A 805mb download, the demo offers about ten minutes of gameplay and a boss battle.

If you're not sure your machine can run the game, there is this benchmark tool. Capcom's Devil May Cry 4 was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 last February; the PC port ships in July with additional game modes and enhanced graphical options.

The PC edition of Capcom's slash-em-up Devil May Cry 4 will hit at an unspecified date this summer, the company has announced. A demo of the PC version will be released in advance of the title's retail debut, and will feature a system benchmark mode.

Based on the previously-released Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions, the PC iteration of Devil May Cry 4 includes additional gameplay modes--the fast-paced Turbo Mode and the screen-filling enemies population of Legendary Dark Knight Mode--along with revised enemy placement.

Capcom also specified that the cinematics of the DirectX 9 and DirectX 10-compatible title will now run at up to 120 frames per seconds instead of the 30 frames per second limit of the console versions.

This week, Capcom is bringing Devil May Cry 4 to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC release due out a little further down the line. There's been a lot of hype for this game for quite a while, and though it doesn't reinvent the action genre, the good news is that it's a whole lot of fun.

In other words, it's pretty much everything you'd want in an action game. That's not to say Devil May Cry 4 is perfect--it certainly has its flaws--but it is fun, it is enjoyable, and it is one of the best action titles currently available on either PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

As promised, a playable demo of Capcom's Devil May Cry 4 (PC, PS3, X360) is now available for download via the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store.

According to Capcom, the demo features "a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4's varied locales and allows gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero's unique abilities."

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Devil May Cry 4 will haunt retailers on February 5, with the PC edition following at a later, unspecified date.

Capcom sends along word that the promised demo of its anticipated slash-em-up sequel Devil May Cry 4 will be downloadable on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network this Thursday, January 24.

"The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4's varied locales and allows gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero's unique abilities," said the company.

Capcom expects the Xbox 360 demo to arrive on Thursday around 2AM PST, with the PS3 version coming in a bit later, around 2 or 3PM PST. The full game, meanwhile, is slated to hit PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on February 5.

The PlayStation 3 version of Capcom's upcoming Devil May Cry 4 (PC, PS3, X360) requires a one-time 5 GB installation before the game can be played, according to PS3 Fanboy.

The PS3 version of the title will also sport an achievement-esque system, in which players can earn awards for their actions, which are then viewable to other DMC4-playing PS3 users. The PS3 version of the game also features the exclusive ability to direct the camera by tilting the system's motion-sensitive Sixaxis controller.

A similar achievement-like system will be part of the Trophy Room in Sony's upcoming Home (PS3) initiative, though it is not yet known if DMC4 will be compatible with that functionality.

All versions of Devil May Cry 4 arrive on February 5, with the console outings accompanied by an optional $80 collector's edition. Xbox 360 and PS3 demos are due out around that time as well.

There's a Devil May Cry 4 preview on IGN tonight, going hands-on with Nero. Capcom's third person action game sequel is due out early next year.

The development of one-time PlayStation 3 exclusive Devil May Cry 4 began on PC, producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi recently informed Gamasutra. As a result, the decision to later pursue Xbox 360 and PC versions less than doubled the team's workload.

Devil May Cry 4 is slated to release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 5 in North America. A downloadable demo of the console editions is expected early next year.

Much like many of Capcom's other current-gen titles, such as Lost Planet and Dead Rising, Devil May Cry 4 uses Capcom's internally shared MT Framework engine. Continuing the ever-popular trend of premium priced special edition cases and bonuses, Capcom will offer the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360-owning Devil May Cry faithful with a cornucopia of swag when the latest game in the series arrives on February 5.

Packaged within the metal case of the $79.99 Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition are the four episodes of Devil May Cry: The Animated Series Volume 1 and a bonus DVD with making-of content, soundtrack excerpts, a digital artbook, and PC screensavers, wallpapers, and icons. While the price is a bit steeper than the traditional $10 special edition premium, Capcom points out that the anime disc is a $29.99 value.

A standard edition of the game will be available on the two consoles on February 5 as well, priced at $59.99. Though none of the bonus content is platform exclusive, buyers of the eventual PC edition will not be privy the special edition treatment, likely due to the lower price point of the PC version.
