Explaining that some of the strategy guides bundled with the Deluxe Edition of Demon's Souls may suffer from "unusual cover ink wear/fading," publisher Atlus today launched a replacement program for those afflicted.

To obtain a replacement, owners need simply visit the official site, print off and fill out a form, and then send in the form along with the cover and first page of their guide.

"We appreciate the tremendous support Demon's Souls has received and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused," said Atlus' Crystal Murray.

The replacement program ends on December 31, 2009, with Atlus having declared the Deluxe Edition both "sold out" and "discontinued" less than two weeks after From Software's PlayStation 3 exclusive action-RPG hit North America on October 6.

Apparitions and blood stains represent the multiplayer functionality of Demon's Souls, the upcoming RPG from From. Like a time trial mode in a racing game, other players that are trudging through Demon's Souls in single player appear as ghosts.

In a clever, potentially hilarious twist, they can also leave notes on the ground, to either help or trick other players as they progress through the game. Players can also be summoned to help out in the present. Check out the video below to see it in action.

It's so easy to poke fun at a video labeled the "visceral action trailer" that Atlus PR, the helpful folks that they are, did it for us.

"Wow," exclaimed Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Atlus, pausing for a brief moment to catch his breath and wipe his brow before continuing. "That was a rousing trailer; it really got me excited for Demon's Souls. Not only is there a ton of praise from respected folks in the industry, but there are also numerous new clips of sweeping in-game cinematics, visceral combat, and atmospheric exploration gameplay footage. I'd go so far as to say it's a 'must-see' video, although I should add that I'm being paid to say so."

"Listen well, and you might survive in the unholy land of Boletaria," begins "this Demon's Souls walkthrough." Actually, I'd recommend not listening all that well--the narration sounds like it was recorded in about 15 minutes over Skype.

Still, it does give you a decent look at From Software's upcoming PS3 RPG. The game's getting an October 6 release in North America.

From Software's Demon's Souls (PS3), "the ultimate action RPG" going by publisher Atlus, will arrive at North American retailers on October 6 with various goodies in tow.

Those that pre-order the game from "participating retailers" will receive a "free bonus art book." In addition to the standard $59.99 version of the game, Atlus will be releasing a $69.99 deluxe edition that comes with an exclusive "150+ page strategy guide."

The company claimed that this is "less than it costs to import the game"--an English version has already been released internationally--with marketing VP Tim Pivnicny adding that "we hope this is an offer patient Demon's Souls fans will be hard-pressed to resist."

Claiming that Demon's Souls is "the hardcore RPG experience PLAYSTATION 3 system owners have been waiting for since the platform's launch" and "the ultimate action RPG," publisher Atlus today announced that the game will hit North America this fall.

From From Software (Chromehounds, Armored Core) comes a new trailer for the dark PlayStation 3 action-adventure Demon's Souls, set for a Japanese release in February.

Though Demon's Souls hasn't been scheduled for a North American date, an English version will be released in Asia alongside the Japanese version.
