Sep 13, 1999 9:14am CST tags: CliffyB, Epic Games, Unreal Tournament, Demo
The Unreal Tournament playable demo is hopefully coming out in the very near future. CliffyB of Epic Games made a post to the GT messageboards with a list of the weapons we can expect in the demo. Thanks UU

Rocket Launcher, Pulse Gun, Shock Rifle, Enforcer/Dual Enforcers, Impact Hammer, and the Translocator Minigun

Also, zero sends word on these details Mark Rein revealed:

The demo/test will have 4 or 5 maps. The plan right now (it is still subject to change) is 3 deathmatch maps, 1 Domination map and one Capture The Flag map. Of course there will be bots and a single player ladder (albeit shortened to the 4/5 levels that come with the demo).

More on UT Demo

Sep 12, 1999 12:00am CST tags: Unreal Tournament, Demo
Saw over at Billy's Voodoo Extreme that he yanked a message off of Unreal Universe which says this:
This is more of a demo than a test. It based on a release candidate version of UT. But we will be looking for bug reports and compatibility problems. This is one of the final steps on the road to finishing and releasing Unreal Tournament. We'll certainly see what the users report and that will give us a clear picture of how far we are from release.

Rogue Spear Demo

Sep 05, 1999 7:52am CST tags: Rainbow6, Demo
Well here you go. All that hype about the sequel to Rainbow6 and we're gonna find out if it was worth it or not. According to the guys over at Rainbowsix.net we should be seeing a public demo of the game to download this coming Tuesday. Here is what the sweeties had to say:

Forget the latest offerings from the Backstreet Boys or Marilyn Manson, the mere mention of the Rogue Spear demo is music to ears of every Rainbow Six fan out there. The full retail version of Rogue Spear doesn't ship until later this month, but if all goes well Mplayer.com will have the multiplayer demo available this Tuesday, September 7. Spread the word--this is not to be missed!

Honestly I wasn't a huge fan of the original. It seems just about everyone I know though did enjoy the game so it's probably worth a look. It could possibly have to do with me being retarded and not being able to grasp those complex missions though. I just need a railgun ok?

No More Q3Test-Next Up Q3Demo?

Aug 13, 1999 1:06pm CST tags: Q3Test, Quake 3 Arena, Demo
Just as QuakeCon was wrapping up, Steve had posted some information regarding the possibility of a fixed demo playing feature, as well as DieharD's demo being included. Well Blue just received an email from Graeme Devine giving us both bad news and good news, all at the same time:

No there will not be a special update for playing back the QuakeCon levels. We're in pretty much the final push now to get this thing out the door and we've started to make CD images etc. to test out the game, so another test is looking doubtful. I expect the next update will be the full demo, followed in very short order by the game itself.

Q3Test With Demo Support

Aug 09, 1999 6:05pm CST tags: Q3Test, id Software, Quake 3 Arena, Demo
Well, been running around all evening taking Mr. Quakecon champion DieharD-r3v over to id Software for his tour of the offices. He got to check out the latest build of Quake3 and a bunch of DM maps. Have to head up to the airport in about 15 minutes to drop off DieharD for his trip back to Vancouver. I've got some pretty good news for you guys though. While up at the offices Graeme had the news that they are *possibly* going to release a new Quake3.exe which will fix the demo playback, and more interestingly include the demo of DieharD's QuakeCon championship game. The release isnt for sure just yet, but its a good possibility. I'll try and find out some more for you guys when I return from the airport. Oh yeah, and here is R3V's homepage. Hope you guys can figure out that midi in the background :)

System Shock 2 Demo Review

Aug 08, 1999 2:24pm CST tags: SystemShock2, Demo
The System Shock 2 demo release a few days ago not only impressed me, but also the demo reviewing guys at 3DGaming.net. Here's a bit on the 'encounters' one might have:

Some of them are downright freaky, and the haunting images you'll come across such as words scrawled in blood and the bodies of former crewmates enhance the already creepy atmosphere. The only real problem with the game is that the models are a few polygons short of a haystack, so they don't look as good as those found in the majority of shooters today. You have to keep in mind though, this is no shooter… System Shock 2 is using a highly modified Dark Engine (used in Thief), and the advancements they made are numerous and instantly identifiable.
