The Xbox 360 edition of Neversoft's Tony Hawk's Proving Ground will provide a sneak peak at the studio's Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, publisher Activision revealed today.

Two weeks after the October 9 release of Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, the demo will appear as free download on Xbox Live Marketplace.

"Music is such a huge part of skateboarding culture and pairing the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock demo with Tony Hawk's Proving Ground makes perfect sense," explained RedOctane head of publishing Dusty Welch. "We're excited to bring together two highly anticipated games and give fans their first chance to rock out with the franchise that's taken the world by storm."

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is slated for a late October release on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. For more on the game, check out the known tracklist and our hands-on preview.

So now that the E3 rush is over it, we can expect to see a few demos coming out over the next few weeks. Here is what has hit FileShack recently:
  • Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword Demo
This demo just hit the net in the past couple of hours so I can't tell you if it's any good, but it's hard to go wrong with a Civ game, isn't it? As an added bonus, you can test our new Quicksilver download servers with this demo. Hit it with a download manager and ten connections!
  • Ultima Online: Kingdom Reborn Client
The grandfather of MMOs has been reborn. You can check out a trailer of the revamps before you go downloading a couple of gigs.
  • Upshift StrikeRacer Client
If car combat is your thing, this demo is probably worth checking out. It doesn't really have the graphics to blow you away but it's a nice distraction for about a half hour--although the gameplay isn't really all that hot either. Ok, it's probably not worth bothering. Sorry. ... Read more

E3 07: Grand Theft Auto 4 Demo Walkthrough

Jul 13, 2007 10:41pm CST tags: Rockstar, Demo, E3, E3 07
I recently had the chance to see the Xbox 360 version of Rockstar North's highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV, coming to PlayStation 3 as well later this year. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take control of the game myself and the demo was rather brief, but it was still enough to get me all the more hyped for the upcoming October release.
As the Xbox 360 version booted up, main character Niko was standing in the Liberty City rendition of New York's Times Square. There were few people and cars around, seeming to be late at night or perhaps early in the morning. After wandering around for a bit, Niko--in true GTA form--walked up to a black sedan, opened the door, tossed its former owner onto the street, and took off in his recommissioned vehicle.
