Dark Sector Update

Computer & Video Games has a brief update on Dark Sector, the other Digital Extremes game that we haven't heard about in a while. Originally announced as a first-person massively multiplayer online game, it is now a third-person action/stealth game, and there's no mention of it still being an MMO game.

Hey how about this, Digital Extremes sends along a Dark Sector teaser movie, showing some ingame footage from the PC and Xbox sfi-fi action game which we haven't heard anything about for a couple of years. Even though this footage has been released now, the game is still 2 to 2.5 years away. A website has launched as well though there's nothing there except for this teaser movie.

Blues News has a brief update on Dark Sector, the massively multiplayer online game by Digital Extremes. The game is not dead, but the current company focus is on Unreal Championship for the Xbox.

zero at Unrealism got to visit the Digital Extremes offices and wrote up an article about it. DE has worked with Epic on Unreal and UT and they are now working on their own game Dark Sector. The article has several pictures from around the office, and also a tiny bit of information on the game.

There's a post on the Dark Sector forums by Steve Sinclair from Digital Extremes (Unreal, UT) in which he mentions that their massive multiplayer online game Dark Sector will have effects that are pretty much like the shaders in Quake3.

Over at The Darker Sector is another interview with one of the people at Digital Extremes (the guys who worked with Epic on Unreal/UT and are currently working on Dark Sector and another game). This time they talked to programmer Chris Egerter. Chris isn't actually working on Dark Sector, but is looking at the PS2 and is leading the development of an unnanounced game.
