Scott was nosing around in the incredibly old Shack Archives (pre-database!) and came across an update (Scroll down to Thursday) with the first ever mention of Daikatana2. Worth a look er... a chuckle? This stuff is from 1998 btw.

New Daikatana Patch

For those of you still interested in Daikatana, ION Storm has released a new 1.0 -> 1.2 patch. It's a 46mb download, which is 23mb less than the previous 1.0 - 1.1 and 1.1 - 1.2 patches.

PlanetDaikatana got in contact with TheRomero (even they use it now) who informed them that the list of changes in the 1.2 was bigger than the 6 items originally listed. Also, the source code will not be released because they have no resources to devote to getting it released.

No Retail N64 Daikatana

According to the guys at FGN Online the N64 version of Daikatana wont be released in retail at all, they are going straight to rentals at Blockbuster stores nationwide.

The Daikatana patch has actually been released, and you can get it at Daikatana.com. It's a 44mb (!) download "and includes a ton of fixes as well as new features, including a new "Instagib" mod for Deathmatch, CTF, and DeathTag! " .

Also, the rumor of the day about Eidos getting bought out by Infrogames has been confirmed by WellRounded to be not true. You can read the quick article over here. In addition to that, a few places have been reporting that John Romero's job is in jeapordy. Gamers.com got a quick quote from "The Romero" as they call him (heehee)

"Yes, it's complete dumb bullshit. We're #7 in one list, #10 in another, etc. We're the top shooter on the charts -- and Eidos is happy," the Romero said.

Daikatana Keeps Selling

Well now, a lot of you guys seemed surprised that The Daikatana was a top10 seller on its first week of sales. (Given all the bad reviews). It looks like The Daikatana is hanging tough for yet another week only dropping 2 spots down to #7. The GameWeek editor also tells me that Eidos is looking at *raising* the price of Daikatana back up to $39. Also of note is Quake3 has shown back up on the charts after quite a long time.
