CryEngine 3 Released to Devs

Crytek today unleashed the third iteration of its CryEngine graphics platform in announcing the official release of CryEngine 3.

The engine is the Crytek's first stab at a cross-platform solution, allowing developers to work with a single editor and output the results to a PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in real-time. Other, more flashy features are outlined in the following video:

Crysis 2 Images and Movies Tease New Nanosuit

"How do you improve on perfection?" asks Crynet Systems, the fictional maker of the all-powerful nanosuit featured in Crysis. "This time, we perfected the soldier," the company answers in a brochure the examines the new nanosuit of Crysis 2.

Crytek has distributed the first trailer for Crysis 2, the shooter sequel in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

As teasers go, there isn't much meat on these bones. Sorry.

Multi-platform Crysis 2 Officially Announced

EA Partners will publish Crysis 2, Electronic Arts and CryTek announced today. Though devoid of any details on the game and no release date estimate, today's announcement did reveal that the CryEngine 3 powered game will head to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, in addition to a PC release.

"The development of Crysis 2 marks a major stepping stone for our studio," said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, adding "This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it's the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryENGINE 3. We are excited to have the support of EA Partners again as we work together to make the launch of Crysis 2 a huge event."

CryTek previously teamed with EA Partners for Crysis and Crysis Warhead.
