Though Vogster's shooter MMO CrimeCraft launched only in August, the developer has already announced a revamp of its subscription model as well as an unlimited free trial.

Arriving later this month, the free trial will offer players "The major features of the game for free for as long as they want," with unspecified 'minor' features disabled. The original $9.99 monthly sub will remain intact, while a new $4.99 subsription band is differentiated by less customisation, skill slots and inventory, and slower XP gain.

Vogster went through "significant staffing changes" following CrimeCraft's launch, whose retail release was exclusive to Best Buy and FutureShop. The smaller "live" team will this month deliver a "major" update including a dynamic in-game newspaper and new PvE mode for the PWNS--Persistent World Network Shooter, acronym addicts.

With Vogster's "persistent world next-gen shooter" CrimeCraft (PC) formally launching today, the studio is celebrating the occasion with footage of the game's skills.

The subscription-based shooter is now available from Best Buy and Steam.

The retail PC edition of Vogster's "persistent world next-gen shooter" CrimeCraft will only be sold through vendor Best Buy in North America, publisher THQ has announced.

BestBuy.com pre-orders for the game will open on May 31, with retail locations starting to accept pre-orders on June 7. Those that pre-order will get early beta access, a three-day head start on the launch server, and in-game Marc Ecko shoes.

Additionally, Best Buy will provide those that buy the August-due Unreal Engine 3-powered shooter-MMO with two free months of play, discounts on in-game items, and several other "exclusive" in-game clothing options from "real-world fashion labels."
