Valve and the Counter-Strike team have just announced that they have partnered up, with version 1.0 of the incredibly popular Half-Life to be included in a future update

“The financial and technical support from Valve is a big help in continuing to evolve Counter-Strike. It lets us focus on making Counter-Strike a better game and respond to gamers requests for features and fine-tuning,” said Minh Le, Project Leader of Counter-Strike development. “Distributing Counter-Strike 1.0 as a free upgrade to the two million Half-Life players will grow the Counter-Strike community enormously.” <snip>

Also, in other Half-Life news Webzter let us know he's posted a bit of info from the upcoming Half-Life patch on Teamplay First. First part of the update is about a demo scripting bug, the second however is the news that the new networking code will be in the patch (it was first thought to be in the previous patch, but when that was released it wasn't). Here's a snip from the update

I can tell you that the code is very nice. The best way I can describe it is, set up a local game and run through a map. Now, imagine that same speed on a server, in a firefight, with four HWG's. Your connection is no longer the slowdown, it's now your graphics card and processor (the way god intended).

Also, for all the Counter-Strike fanatics here is an interview with Gooseman who is of course responsible for a lot of work on the Half-Life mod.

The latest version of Counter-Strike for Half-Life has been released. It's a server side only update which features a number of fixes. No need to grab this though unless you admin a CS server.

The Counter-Strike website has been updated with word of testing of 6.1. They also put up two shots to show night vision in effect.

The official Counter-Strike page has just been giving the goods on the upcoming beta6 of this amazingly popular mod for Half-Life. Today they posted a screenshot of the Snow terrorist model.

Since this Half-Life mod is so incredibly popular I'd figure I'd mention this. The official Counter-Strike has two screenshots of a new map that will be included in beta6.

Apache over at Voodoo Extreme did a quick Q&A with one of the Counter Strike guys, cliffe, talking about the success of the mod and future plans.

A new version of the ever incredibly popular Counter-Strike for Half-Life has been released meaning you can download it and stuff. Admittedly I still havent tried out the mod because I'm lame. I'm trying to cleanse my soul by admitting this to you guys but I get the feeling it's not working all that well. Shit.

A new version of the insanely popular Half-Life mod Counter-Strike has been released, beta 5.0. The page is currently quite slow (for me at least) but once you get to the download page there's a list of mirrors for the 31mb full download or a 12mb patch. If you didn't know, Valve helped a little with development of this new release (which has a lot of new features). 3D Palette has an interview with lead modeler/skinner Gooseman. They also have a new screenshot that shows off the new 'snow dude' terrorist player model by Gooseman and a hostage by Valve's Chuck Jones.

Beta 4 of the immensly popular mod for Half-Life, Counter-Strike has been released, featuring all sorts of cool new stuff including new guns.
