We've added a new team to each side -- the Russian Spetznaz on one side and the militia extremist on the other -- so that there are now five teams per side. Then we created a complete High Definition pack for the game increasing polygonal detail by 75 percent and adding a level of detail system to keep performance up despite the upgrades.
Intelgamer: Will the levels be bigger than the current CS levels? Approximately, how long will each round last?
Randy Pitchford: In the single player game of Condition Zero, there's no such thing as the concept of "rounds". Instead, you'll have a mission and objectives. Objectives can be accomplished as quickly as a few minutes, or they can take awhile depending upon the aggressiveness of the player and the skill of the team. Some objectives have to be accomplished very rapidly before they're irrelevant. There are a large variety of objectives in each environment that challenge various skills the player is developing.
MGON: A system of squad training has been vaguely hinted at in the past. What role will this system play in the game?
Randy Pitchford: When you recruit a new squad member, theyÂre going to be green recruits with a lot that can be improved upon. As the missions get more difficult itÂs going to be important to invest in training for your team to improve their team tactics and their skill with the various weapons. There are a wide variety of skills that can be improved upon with training  of course training comes at a cost.
HomeLAN - Will there be any enhancements in Condition's Zero's multiplayer online mode and will those enhancements make their way to the mod version of CS?
Randy Pitchford - The new characters have about a 75% increase in polygonal detail and those will be available for multiplayer as a High Definition Pack for Counter-Strike. There are also some technology improvements like alpha blending with models, level of detail for performance and a new materials based feedback system that will be added to the game as well. Additionally, all of the new weapons and game play features will be available to Counter-Strike should server operators wish to take advantage of them. ...
Probably the most compelling weapon or item has to be the Riot Shield. "The Ballistic or Riot Shield is new to CS," continues Palmer, "It will take up a primary weapon slot for the CTs. It will hold up against pistol fire, shotgun fire, and sub-machine gun fire, but it can't withstand rifles or machine guns. When you put the shield up to your face you'll be able to see through a small piece of glass on the front. When you want to shoot your pistol, we will have an animation where the shield slides over so you can fire. It truly adds a whole new dimension to the game." Can you imagine two CTs using shields as cover, with a sniper right behind them?
