Throughout the course of Civilization, one problem has plagued gamers more than any other: how does one balance the desire to hit "next turn" with the intense need to urinate?

2K Games took one giant leap toward the toilet for man by releasing Civilization Revolution on iPhone today.

Both a full $5 app and a free Lite version are now available to download on the Apple App store.

The full version includes 16 civilizations to the Lite's choice of 3, and will be supported with future foreign language localization, achievements, Twitter integration, and other free updates.

Firaxis' world-conquering strategy game Civilization Revolution is about to get some downloadable goodies for owners of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. A free single-player map pack and a paid DLC scenario pack are set to land on October 9.

The Brave New Worlds single-player pack is a free set of four maps each with their own unique terrain. "Mazeworld," "Chokepoint," "Donutworld," and "Checkerboard" all take the shapes their names imply, making for some unorthodox territories to conquer.

The Victory Pack, a paid download retailing for 100 MS Points ($1.25) or $1.25 on the PlayStation Network, offers three single-player scenarios: "Enlightenment," a fight for a cultural victory, "Hyper Drive," a high-speed space race, and "Gold Rush," a race for the most money.

The game's official website says that tomorrow's DLC is "the first round" of downloads, implying that more is still to come.

So Firaxis' Civilization Revolution does a pretty good job of bringing the series' core gameplay to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. And the propaganda for it isn't half bad either, with posters like this and this. That's why the Shack has gotten together with publisher 2K Games, and together, we intend to answer the proletariat's demands for propaganda materials.

So sure, we've got five of the large Napoleon posters. And sure, we've got ten of the Lincoln posters, one even signed by the man himself, Sid Meier. But how do we move them from Shacknews to you? With a contest of course!

As promised, demos of DICE's shooter Battlefield: Bad Company and Firaxis' strategy title Civilization Revolution are now available for public download on Xbox 360.

Both demos feature samples of their respective games' single-player and online multiplayer components, and both will be available to PlayStation 3 owners later today.

Battlefield: Bad Company is slated to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 23. Meanwhile, Civilization Revolution arrives on PS3, 360 and Nintendo DS on July 8.

A downloadable demo of Firaxis Games' first console-exclusive Civilization title will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users tomorrow, GameSpot claims.

Weighing in around 1.08 GB, the demo is said to feature turn-based strategic single and multiplayer gameplay from the perspectives of Egypt and Rome along with a tutorial.

Originally slotted to arrive on June 3, Civilization Revolution is now expected to hit PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS on July 8. A Wii version was once announced, but has since been placed on hold.

2K Games today announced that Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution will hit stores on June 3.

Built from the ground up to offer a satisfying strategy solution for console gamers, the game will be available on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with a separate Nintendo DS version to be released simultaneously.

The Wii version of Firaxis Games' Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution has been delayed indefinitely, according to publisher 2K Games.

"Development for the Wii version of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution is currently on hold," 2K Games told IGN. "We are focusing our attention on creating the best possible Civilization experience for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS platforms."

The first Civilization game built exclusively for consoles, Revolution is said to be the first Sid Meier-designed Civilization title since the original Sid Meier's Civilization (PC).

The hold up comes as little surprise, given that the Wii version was already slated to hit much later than the other versions. At the time of our E3 preview, the turn-based strategy game was expected to arrive on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS in the spring, with the now-uncertain Wii release trailing in the fall.

When 2K Games announced that Sid Meier's addictive strategy series was heading for consoles and "upping the action," fans weren't sure what that would entail--but as the first true Sid Meier-led Civ game since Civ II, it's probably in good hands. We got a look at Civilization Revolution (PS3, X360, Wii, DS) during last week's E3 to give you an idea of what to expect. Chris Faylor reports.

With Wii and DS versions also underway, the representative assured me that gameplay will be basically the same across the various platforms. "The way [Sid Meier] wrote the code, the game core actually doesn't know what system it's on," he noted. "It's the presentation layer that gets wrapped around the core that knows, so they will be able to play very similar."
