Chaser Interview

Dec 26, 2001 10:25am CST tags: Chaser, Interview
Though posted last week, nobody noticed this Chaser interview on CVG until Blues News did today. David Durcak of Cauldron answers a few questions about this upcoming FPS game. There are questions about the storyline, how long they have been working on the title, the CloakNT engine that powers the game, the locations in the game, the types of missions and a few other things. New screenshots are included as well.

Have you got any plans to develop multiplayer modes for Chaser, and, if so, what are these likely to be?
David: Yes, we have. We already have functional basic multiplayer modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and CTF. Additionally we plan to add some new modes. You will be able to play Chaser over a local area network (LAN) or the Internet.

Chaser's one of many first-person shooters in development. In what ways will it stand out from the crowd?
David: We would like to be different in the atmosphere - plenty of action situations and playability - and generally in the overall concept of the game.

Looking At Chaser

A couple of days ago we mentioned Chaser here for the first time, a number of people were kind of doubtful that the screenshots of the game were legit. I've managed to round up a whole batch of screenshots from the guys though which should give you a much better idea of what the new FPS game is looking like. For some odd reason a few of the shots remind me of a jacked up SIN. Check em out:

Life on the Earth is possible but not easy. Large cities are afflicted by poverty and suburbs are completely controlled by the local gangs. It is 44 years since the first colony has risen on the surface of the red planet - Mars. Chaser is an agent of a security agency who was badly hurt in a cover operation and partially lost his memory. He doesn’t know why the military commando wants to eliminate him, why he is on the black lists of several gangs [snip]

Chaser Unveiled

Sep 04, 2001 7:28pm CST tags: Valve, Chaser
GameSpot has gotten the scoop this afternoon on Chaser, a FPS that has only been in development for about half a year but the screenshots sure look purty. There are only a couple of screenshots to check out [shot1] and [shot2]

Cauldron makes no bones about the fact that its soon-to-be-announced shooter, called Chaser, owes more than a little to Valve's masterpiece, though according to Cauldron development director David Durcak, it features "a more detailed story and [more] action." Idle boast or not, when the game launches in fall 2002 under the Fishtank Interactive label, one thing is certain: Genre enthusiasts will take note. We were recently able to visit Fishtank's offices in Germany to take a look at this early game, and while its existence has yet to be realized by an official press release, we've been given the green light to reveal the first few tidbits of information regarding Chaser a little early.
