After discussions with Activision, the following websites will not be carrying the Call of Duty playable demo, even after its exclusivity is over. This is due to Activision's decision to not accede to the reasonable request of making the demo freely available to all game enthusiasts at the same time.

The above-listed websites hope to show Activision that the enthusiast industry is strongly opposed to the idea of exclusive demo releases.

Feedback from our users shows that gamers hate to be forced through  a single point of congestion if they want a demo right away. While these websites are actually competitors, this competition provides the freedom of choice that enthusiasts want by offering the widest possible distribution of any demo (a sample intended to interest as many gamers as possible in the full product, after all) rather than the most restricted one.

Therefore, something this disrespectful of the industry as a whole has inspired all of these websites to stand together in this open letter.

Deals like this hurt the industry much more than they could possibly enhance a single relationship, and we ask for your support in sending out this message

GameSpot has posted a new Call of Duty preview, offering impressions of the build on display at QuakeCon. Seven new screenshots from this WW2 shooter are up as well.

Also on PC.IGN is this Q&A with Michael Giacchino, the music composer who is currently scoring the World War 2 shooter Call of Duty after having worked on the Medal of Honor games.

Activision today announced that music composer Michael Giacchino has signed on to score Call of Duty. Giacchino previously worked on the soundtrack for EA's Medal of Honor games as well as the TV series Alias.

Activision issued this press release, announcing that actors Jason Statham and Giovanni Ribisi will provide their voices for key roles in this upcoming World War 2 shooters. In addition, writer/producer Michael Schiffer (Crimson Tide, The Peacemaker, among others) has "added his screenwriting stamp to the game's action-filled script". Call of Duty will be out this fall.

Over at EuroGamer you can find a preview of Call of Duty, Infinity Ward's WW2 shooter. The preview is based on a recent demonstration of the game at an Activision press event.

Computer & Video Games has a new Call of Duty Q&A this afternoon. Infinity Ward lead designer Zied Rieke answers questions about the game's setting, having three main characters, the mix of action and stealth, AI, multiplayer and a few other things.

There is a Call of Duty Q&A on HomeLAN Fed this morning, talking with lead designer Todd Alderman and lead animator Michael Boon about this World War 2 shooter game. Questions are about things like why another WW2 shooter, how Infinity Ward hooked up with Activision, the campaign storylines, historical research, enemy AI, multiplayer options, bot support and more.

Activision has released three brief Call of Duty movie clips, showing footage from the game previously only available to GameSpot Complete members. The AVI clips are between 27 and 46 seconds in length. Update: I forgot to notice there were three more movies, which are from the Russian campaign. You can grab those here.
