Angel Munoz of the CPL made this post on the CPL forums with some info on the upcoming FRAG 4 event (September 28 - October 1). Besides some other event and sponsor info, it appears 3dfx will be showing their Voodoo5 6000 at the event.

RA3 Tournament

For the Rocket Arena 3 fans, there will be a RA3 tournament at CPL's FRAG4 called Frag Arena. There are still many things to be decided on (such as map choice) so let yourself be heard if you're interested.

Stomped has a QuakeCon report written by the current number 1 CPL player fatal1ty. He didn't compete in the tournament but was just a general attendee. He did win a Dreamcast signed by Carmack though heh.

FRAG 4 Doom II Tournament

Female Quake3 Tournament

The CPL has announced that together with Telefragged, it will be hosting an all-female Quake 3 one-on-one tournament with $5,000 in cash prizes during the FRAG 4 tournament. Well know female players such as Kornelia and Killcreek are already registered. It's interesting to see it's still deemed necessary to run a seperate event for female gamers.

The CPL has chosen a replacement for the NetGamesUSA guys who recently got bought out by Microsoft. Eventricity will now be responsible for running the tournament software.

MS Buys NetGamesUSA

Ever saw those cool game stats with Unreal Tournament, or during a CPL event, showing what weapons players had been using, how effective they were and how many deaths and kills they had (among other things)? Well, the makers, NetgamesUSA has been purchased by Uncle Bill and the gang, according to a press release issues by Microsoft this morning. The stats system will now be used at Microsoft's Zone. The NGUSA guys will also be developing a SDK for the Xbox console.

Microsoft plans to add technology developed by NetGames to select retail games currently in development, including the highly anticipated ``MechWarrior(TM) 4: Vengeance,'' scheduled for release this holiday season. The company will also maintain support for multiplayer games currently utilizing NetGames' technology on Zone.com.
