New Galactic Conquest

Version 5 of the Star Wars: Galactic Conquest mod for Battlefield 1942 has been released, adding four new maps, eight vehicles (there are now a total of sixty in the game), and there are several gameplay changes too. If you have v4.2 installed you can grab a smaller patch.

BFTV Article

Boomtown has an article on Battlefield TV, an upcoming tool which will add a HLTV-like spectator mode for Battlefield. There will be features like live streaming, pausing and changing camera angles.

PC.IGN also has some shacky cam Battlefield 2 footage, which is looking pretty damn sweet. The WMV movie runs for a minute and 18 seconds.

Battlefield Vietnam Community Update

There is a new community update on the official Battlefield Vietnam website. It mentions the 1.1 patch has been delayed, mentioning that they're adding an additional week of testing and polishing. There are also several screenshots showing off the upcoming WW2 mod, illustrating how different Wake Island, Invasion of the Philippines and Iwo Jima look compared to the BF1942 versions.

New on HomeLAN Fed today is a Q&A with Frank DeLise of Trauma Studios, developer of the Desert Combat mod. In addition to working on DC, Trauma Studios is also working on an unannounced game with Battlefield developer Digital Illusions.

Eve of Destruction 0.31 Released

The Eve of Destruction team have released a patch for their Battlefield 1942 mod, updating it to version 0.31. Linux and Windows server files are available as well. The EOD team also had this to say about the status of the mod after the BF Vietnam release "At current we, like many in the community, are looking forward to evaluating the updated engine and tools available and make an informed decision afterwards".

New Forgotten Hope

FileShack is now hosting the new release of the Forgotten Hope mod for Battlefield 1942. Not for the bandwidth impaired, the new release is some 1.2GB and comes with new maps, new vehicles, gameplay fixes/additions and other features.

BF1942 Debug Executable

The Battlefield 1942 website is now offering a debug executable for all your mod/map makers out there. According to EA, this executable will list any data errors found in your custom created map or mod. You can then use this data to optimize and stabilize the content. Thanks Blues News.

BF1942 Linux Server Update

As noted in this post, an updated Battlefield 1942 Linux server has been released, fixing four bugs including ("a potentially dangerous bug with the GameSpy query interface" and a "stall bug with remote console connections (was causing lag)"). You can grab the patch from FileShack.

Battlefield 1942 1.6 Patch Released

Electronic Arts has released the latest Battlefield 1942 patch, updating the World War 2 game to version 1.6. There is an incremental patch from v1.5, a full patch to update any version and new server files are available as well. Here are some of the changes and additions
- New Map - Liberation of Caen
- New Map - Raid on Agheila
- Support for Punkbuster anti-cheat software
- Improved server browser
- Fixed "chat lag" by streaming messages over a high-priority channel.
- Slightly improved loading speed of maps
- Updated banning system

New BF1942 Linux Server
