Alice Update

Dec 17, 1999 8:52pm CST tags: Alice
Rogue Entertainment designer Bobby Pavlock updated his .plan file with a little update on what he's working for the American McGee/Rogue project Alice (Q3 engine powered).

Right now I am working on a group of levels that make up the Caterpillar Garden. For those of you who recall the story, Alice meets the Caterpillar after she is shrunk. So basically, I'm constructing these levels of enormously grand scale since Alice is about the size of an ant. I'm sure most of you remember Levelord's Sin DM level (I believe it was 'Spry') where you were running around fraggin each other in an enormously oversized living room. Well, that's pretty much the feeling you're gonna have when you run around these levels. I'm really pleased with the way it's turning out so far, and it's alot of fun to be able to design something so different from the norm. It presents alot of interesting challenges and opportunities to do some really weird and original stuff

Alice Uncovered!

Oct 31, 1999 1:49am CST tags: Alice
Well, it looks like the Alice website has finally gotten a redesign offering a bit more info on the Quake3 engine freaky fairytale game. The only images of the game I could dig up is this image of Alice, this in-engine shot that I scaled up, and a couple of windows backgrounds: [image1] [image2]. Here are the game details I got for ya:

When Alice responds to a mysterious summons to return to Wonderland, the place is barely recognizable. Something has gone very wrong. Undaunted by the diseased atmosphere, confusion, and mortal danger that surrounds her, Alice commits to set it right. Equipped with her courage, a keen appetite for the bizarre, and a lethal array of transmogrified toys, she'll penetrate enemy stongholds, confront the forces of evil, and put the wicked Queen of Hearts in her proper place.
...
Based on Quake III engine technology , 3rd-person 3D action , An array of nasty toys , Vicious creatures , Horrifying environments , Strange characters , Devious puzzles , Over a dozen strangely familiar locations

Also, the Alice Webring has a Q&A with one of the developers from Rogue Entertainment although it doesnt offer any game info.

Alice For Halloween?

Oct 24, 1999 3:39am CST tags: Alice
Word from the guys at the Stomped Alice page is that the answer to that last totally random Alice riddle is "Alice will be coming alive after Haloween" which of course is only half as cryptic as the riddles themselves. I also plan on picking my nose some time after Halloween as well, perhaps I should write a riddle about it.. Hrm. The Stomped guys will hopefully have some clarification on the situation next week. I'm gonna get to work on that riddle in the mean time.
