Sarah Michelle Gellar's American McGee's Alice Movie Will Happen, Buffy Promises

Jan 28, 2008 2:35pm CST tags: American McGee, Alice
Sarah Michelle Gellar (pictured left) is still hoping to turn American McGee's Alice (PC)--American McGee's dark, twisted vision of Lewis Carrol's classic literary tale Alice's Adventures in Wonderland--into a full-fledged live-action feature.

"It's still my project, and I'm still working diligently," she told SCI-FI Wire. "I'll do it if I have to get down and write it myself one of these days. I may have to.

"I believe there is such a beautiful, crazy, cool, twisted story to be told there," Gellar continued, attributing the holdup to issues with funding studio Universal. "So to all those Alice fans, I'm not giving up."

Gellar, who starred in the long-running television drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the live-action film renditions of Scooby-Doo, had hoped to play the lead role in Sarah Michelle Gellar's American McGee's Alice, but is now fearful that she... Read more

Wes Craven's Alice

Dec 26, 2001 5:08pm CST tags: Alice
Looks like the movie based on Alice by American McGee and company is moving forward. In fact they just landed Wes Craven as the director for the film according to this SciFi update. Thanks EA

Wes Craven told SCI FI Wire that he is in development on a computer-animated film version of the video game American McGee's Alice for Dimension Films. "It's very close to the game," Craven said in an interview. "Everything that we can take from the game, we will steal, and then we'll bring even more to it. I'm sure this will be a big CGI picture, and we'll try to duplicate as much of the sort of wonder part of the Wonderland as we can."

update: Old news you say? Ok yeah... this has been known since Maarten posted it a year ago. I think I mentioned something about making mistakes the other day...

Hornback on Rogue

Feb 12, 2001 3:47pm CST tags: Alice
Blues News has an open letter from Rogue's Stephen Hornback addressing the situation at Rogue Entertainment since the cancellation of the Playstation 2 port of American McGee's Alice which they are working on. He also offers his opinion on the current developer/publisher relationship.

After hearing a few of the outrageous stories from some of my fellow developers who came from other companies (not to mention my own experiences), I've realized that many game producers as well as publishers are out to only line their own pockets at the expense of all else including what got them there in the first place, the talent. With so many people desperately trying to break into the gaming industry, it's easy for a producer or publisher to dump the talent so they can pay minimum wage to the new guy on the block. Is this philosophy helping to make better games for the masses? Unfortunately, this formula often leads to a degree of failure for the offending company and greater competition for the violator (the latter of which is maybe a good thing after all). But, overall, what a sad development for this industry. However, again I must say that this never happened at Rogue; so I feel very fortunate indeed to still be associated with the company. ...
